Abrams will be directing the next Star Wars film for Disney. “It’s [a] done deal with J.J.,” an unnamed source told Deadline today. Last year, speaking to Empire Magazine at ComingSoon.net, Abrams admitted being in discussions about helming the next Star Wars movie, but said then that he preferred not to do it. “..There were the very early conversations and I quickly said that because of my loyalty to Star Trek, and also just being a fan, I wouldn’t even want to be involved in the next version of those things,” he said. “I declined any involvement very early on. I’d rather be in the audience not knowing what was coming, rather than being involved in the minutiae of making them.” Star Wars Episode VII is expected out in 2015.
