Vic 17 Posted August 10, 2012 Sir Patrick Stewart has arrived in Israel to begin filming for Hunting Elephants. Directed by Reshef Levy, Hunting Elephants is the story of a “precocious dreamer hoping to save his family home by enlisting a group of pensioners.” Originally, John Cleese was to have a role in the film, but he had to drop out of the project, and Stewart is Cleese’s replacement. Stewart will be playing an English gentleman who becomes involved in a “half-baked plot” to rob a bank. “It was a great honor to be given a role that was written for John Cleese,” said Stewart. “I have to see how I can make it my own. I always wanted to be funny, now I have a chance.” Stewart welcomed the chance to visit Israel again. “I told my family and friends that I wanted to come back [to Israel],” he said. “I am happy to be here, not as a tourist but as part of an Israeli movie production.” Being in Israel will give Stewart a chance to learn more about the country and its role in the Middle East peace process. ““I plan to leave Israel in a few weeks with a firmer opinion about what’s going on here,” he said.
