Shimerman In The Seagull

Fans of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine‘s Armin Shimerman who live in the Los Angeles area can see the actor in Anton Chekhov‘s The Seagull.

 

Shimerman will playing the role of Shamrayev and will be in the “Rubles” cast, one of two casts which will be performing the play.

 

The Seagull, directed by Andrew Traister, is “set on a country estate by a lake in nineteenth century Russia. This idyllic locale belies the turbulent passions of its inhabitants. The famous actress, Irina Arkadina, returns home with her lover to find a household overflowing with creativity, fantasies of fame, jealousy and unrequited love.”

 

The two casts performing the play will “alternate Saturday night and Sunday matinee performances,” according to the Antaeus Company. “On Thursdays and Fridays, we’ll mix them up, which will be known as the Tsars casts.”

 

The Seagull begins this evening, with opening night on March 1 and 2 at 8 PM. The play will run Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 PM, and Sundays at 2 PM through April 15. Performances before opening night will cost $15, after opening night, the price will range from $30-34.

 

Shimerman will also be directed a staged reading of Arthur Miller‘s The Crucible, which will be held March 25-26, and will take place at 7 PM. Admission to this event is free, although a $10 donation at the door is suggested.
