Vic 17 Posted November 21, 2011 Yesterday’s Honolulu Advertiser confirmed that J.J. Abrams was looking at Hawaii as a possible location for part of Star Trek 2. As reported by TrekToday last week, Hawaii was under consideration as a locale for a “jungle planet” in Star Trek 2. According to Honolulu Film Commissioner Walea Constantinau, production scouts visited Oahu, Kauai and the Big Island in late summer. “The filmmakers were interested in shooting here,” said Constantinau. “[The movie] was at a very early stage. They are not ready. It is still in development. Everybody got all excited about something that is exploratory.” TrekMovie.com has reported that not only did scouts go to Hawaii last summer, but Constantinau and Hawaii Film Commissioner Georja Skinner recently visited Los Angeles to “meet with a number of studios regarding possible productions in Hawaii, including a meeting at Paramount about the Star Trek sequel.” View the full article
