Vic 17 Posted June 8, 2011 The dates for Star Trek: The Exhibition at Kennedy Space Center have been announced. From June 11 through September 5, those living in or near Florida will be able to experience Star Trek: The Exhibition for themselves, in The Exhibition‘s first appearance in the southeastern part of the U.S. “Star Trek: The Exhibition is an interactive exhibit of authentic Star Trek artifacts from the past forty years, featuring one-of-a-kind costumes, props and filming models from every Star Trek television series and feature films. Go deep within the Star Trek universe to discover the history of this ground-breaking series and a recreation of the Enterprise Bridge from the original series, where visitors may sit in the command chair of Star Trek‘s most famous captain: James T. Kirk.” Kennedy Space Center also hosts Star Trek Live, which “takes audiences on an exhilarating live theatrical experience, combining special effects, audience interaction and an exploration of real space-age technology.” View the full article
He Who Shall Not Be Named 2 Posted June 8, 2011 Sorry, but there is so much legitimate space travel stuff at Kennedy that hosting Star Trek stuff seems like going to Disneyland and thinking the best part of the trip was the in-flight meal.
VaBeachGuy 12 Posted June 11, 2011 A lot of real astronauts and NASA workers, both past and present would (and have) credit the Star Trek franchise with sparking a spirit of exploration in them. I don't think it's a bad thing to have a Star Trek exhibit at the KSC. The first space shuttle is named after the Star Trek Enterprise and the original Enterprise is in the Smithsonian after all. He Who Shall Not Be Named 2 Posted June 12, 2011 Hold on. The shuttle got it's name from Star Trek? I thought Enterprise was in honor of free-market economics. Boy was I wrong.
