Vic 17 Posted May 17, 2011 A trailer for The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn, in which Simon Pegg plays Detective Thompson, is now online. In The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn, Tintin and his friends set off to find a treasure left behind by Tintin’s ancestor Sir Francis Haddock. Pegg and Nick Frost will play bumbling detectives Thompson and Thomson. Pegg chose the Steven Spielberg movie over Quentin Tarantino‘s Inglourious Basterds, where he would have played Lt. Archie Hicox had he elected to take place in that movie instead of The Adventures of Tintin. “It was a horrible decision to make,” he said. “I remember sitting on my own in a hotel room for an hour, having to decide which one to do. A l t e r E g o 9 Posted May 17, 2011 Peggs over blown drama aside, I really like this book series as a kid. I remember my dad reading it to me during my 'read me a story' phase. I went on to eventually have every book in the series which I read all of tens of dozens of times. They were the only "comic book" I was allowed to have. I remember the TV cartoon series, it left me a little cold. The toon lacked much of the appeal I remembered of it in my youth but it was still fun to revisit. The theme song was very cool, I thought.
