Vic 17 Posted April 29, 2011 For anxious fans waiting for news of Star Trek XII, a small bit of news gives hope about the film being completed on time as well as the hope that J.J. Abrams will return to direct. Chris Pine will be appearing in a new Jack Ryan film and he is expected to begin work on it in January, which means he’ll need to be finished with his Star Trek work by then. “I’m told the hope is to start production on the Ryan film sometime in January,” said Deadline‘s Mike Fleming. “J.J. Abrams is busy finishing and will be promoting Super 8, but then he’s expected to be back at the helm of the Star Trek sequel, which has Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Damon Lindelof finishing the screenplay.
