Shatner Captains Documentary Update

Recommended Posts

The ever-busy William Shatner gave an update on the highly-anticipated documentary, The Captains, which will include interviews with Star Trek TV captains Sir Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew and Scott Bakula.

According to Shatner, the movie has been shot and is now being assembled. “Captains is being edited as we speak,” he said. “We’ve got a great film, there’s a lot of it and we’re passionately putting it together. We’ll have it ready in the near future.”

ShatnersmSMDS.gifShatner went on to explain a bit about the movie content. “There are extensive interviews and there will be a lot of clips involving actors who played the captain on Star Trek and what elements unify us and what things are divergent about us,” he said. “There’s a great deal that is common among the actors, their experience, their temperaments.”

The man who played Captain Kirk admits to being a bit of a workaholic. “I am work-bound,” he said, explaining why he was ignorant about contemporary music and films. “I don’t have time to connect with modern culture or pop culture.”

What he does have time for is talking about his latest work, $#*! My Dad Says. “It’s really good,” he said of the comedy. “We’ve got a wonderful cast. And, as superb actors and as wonderful people as they are, the joy I have is the people producing. Max Mutchnick and David Kohan are producer-writers and they’ve gathered a team of very funny people, and striving to make it funnier is a real kick. Everyone’s interested in making the show better and funnier and giving it some meaning and discovering as we go along.”

The Captains will release next year.
