Vic 17 Posted June 2, 2010 Simon Pegg’s habit of hiding a special piece of jewelry kept it safe when a thief hit a penthouse greenroom used by Pegg and actress Kirsten Dunst during filming of How To Lose Friends and Alienate People in 2007. Pegg testified today, for the second time, against a man accused of burglarizing the room and taking Pegg’s iPod and camera and Dunst’s handbag with $2000 in cash it in. The first trial ended with a deadlocked jury. In his testimony, Pegg explained that he regularly hides his wedding ring while changing into costume. This habit meant that while he lost the camera and iPod, his ring wasn’t taken too. Robert Parker, the lawyer for the accused thief (James Jimenez) claimed that his client had a good reason to be in the penthouse. “There was a very good explanation as to why my client was there,” said Parker. “There were drugs in the room of Kirsten Dunst and Simon Pegg.” According to Parker, Jimenez had accompanied friend Jarrod Bienerman, described as a “major New York drug dealer” and the two would have had to get past a gauntlet of security guards to access the penthouse. In last year’s trial, Jimenez’s lawyer claimed that his client was too stupid to realize that the drug dealer was robbing the actor’s hotel rooms. Kirsten Dunst will testify next week.
