What was the best season of the X-Files?

I voted seaon 1, although I consider season 2 to be of extremely high standard. However season one had it all, a great start with glimpses of alien contact and the government involvement, great stand-alones such as Tombs with great horror elements and finally a great episode to end the season on a high and ensure it was commissioned again for season two.

 

Another point I would like to make, if the X-Files had finished after season 3 then I believe it would be considered among the top TV series of all time, equal to series such as Star Trek and The Twilight Zone. In my opinion the series entered into freefall with season 4.

For me its hard to choose.. But thats just me..

 

The only way to narrow it down is I don't like anything without Mulder..

 

I have nothing against Doggett but hes not Mulder.. :P

I didn't vote, I really liked all the seasons! If there was a season I didn't like I would have to say the last season was not as good as the others. Like bevfrank,without Muldur it was just not the same, Dogget was ok but the show really need Muldur.

I liked all the seasons of X-files and I wish they could make more.
