Lars and the Real Girl

Yet another affirmation of Ryan Gosling's understated brilliance. He bring such honesty to this character, missing is the swagger you'd come to expect from some of his previous roles like The Believer, Murder By Numbers, and Fracture. In it's place you'll find something even more interesting. The writing and plot is amazing, the characters are fallible, complex, and endearing. It is an understated film quietly asserting its intelligence upon the audience and winning us over in the process.

 

I give it 5 out of 5 stars

 

For Gosling fans I highly recommend 2005's Stay. Heartbreaking, frightening, heart wrenching, haunting. The final moments of the film stay with you.
