BEST Movie Face-Offs

Out of all of your favorite movies, what would you say are the best "Hero VS. Villian" face-offs?

 

Here's some that I think rock:

 

Alexander VS. Uber-Morlock - The Time Machine

Spider-man VS. Green Goblin - Spider-man

Picard VS. Shinzon - Star Trek: Nemesis

Ellanor VS. Hugh-Crane - The Haunting

John Robinson VS. Spider-Smith - Lost in Space

I've more to add, just can't think of any.

My favorite is when Alexander takes on the Uber-Morlock and fights on the time machine as it travels further into the future. While a short fight sequence, I thought it was very intense and suspenseful. Next up is Spider-man VS. the Green Goblin. "Wow" about says it all. As for Picard taking on Shinzon? Who knew that Picard would turn into Bruce Willis! B)

 

I just had a thought. If Janeway stars in the next movie, is she gonna go all "Ripley" on us and fight a big nasty alien? B)

One that I can think of right now was in The Fugitive. It was the scene where Dr. Richard Kimball (Harrison Ford) was perched at the edge of the dam and the US Marshal (Tommy Lee Jones) had him blocked so that the only thing he could do was surrender or jump. Very few words were spoken and there wasn't actually a physical confrontation other than the Marshal threatening to shoot Kimball, but the actors portrayed the emotions each was feeling so well, you knew exactly what was going on in their minds. You could see the moment when Kimball made the decision to jump and the confrontation between the two was over.

In the Star Trek movies i would say either Kirk vs Kahn or Picard vs Borg Queen.In non Star Trek movies im going with the Disney movie"The Great Mouse Detective"Great fight scene on Big Ben between Holmes and Morrati(not sure of there names in the movie but thats who they are portraying)

In Star Trek, I would have to say that Picard vs. Shinzon is my favorite. It wasn't a movie, but I thought Kirk vs. the Gorn was also good.

 

Another one that I loved was in Raiders of the Lost Ark. It was the one where Indy was in a face-off with the swordsman in the marketplace. The vicious looking swordsman was displaying his talents with the sword. Just when you think there's going to be a good fight, Indy has had enough and pulls out his gun and shoots him.

My personal favorite is Cruise vs. Nicholson in "A Few Good Men". It proves drama can be every bit as gripping as a good action scene.

 

However, if we are to limit the debate to action-type movies, here are a few that come to mind (in no particular order):

 

1. Harry Callahan vs. Scorpio in "Dirty Harry".

2. Darth Maul vs. Obiwan & Quigon in "Star Wars Episode I".

3. Jedis vs. The Clones in "Star Wars Episode II".

4. Rocky Balboa vs. Clubber Lang in "Rocky III".

5. Charles Bronson vs. Henry Fonda in "Once Upon a Time in the West".

6. Jack vs. Wendy in "The Shining".

7. Any of "The Terminator" films.

8. Ripley vs. the "momma" alien in "Aliens".

9. "Blondie" vs. "Angel Eyes" vs. Tuco in "The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly".

10. Clint Eastwood vs. Gene Hackman in "Unforgiven".

11. Moses vs. Ramses in "The Ten Commandments".

12. "Snake" vs. The President in "Escape from LA".

13. Steven Seagal vs. Tommy Lee Jones & Gary Busey in "Under Siege".

14. Keanu Reeves vs. Dennis Hopper in "Speed".

 

I could go on, but that's enough for now.
