Captain Jean-Luc Picard 1 Posted September 14, 2003 As we all know, the "NX-class" is based on the "Akira-class", where as in the Trek universe, it's the other way arround. With that said, they carried allong the Akira weapons pod to NX's design. Does anyone know what it is? I thought it was engineering till I realised the 2 pylons were too thin. Then I thought it was some kind of engine hub or something, perhaps it helps stabilise the warp field. In "The Expanse", we see photon torpedoes come out of it, but never saw proton torpedoes, or whatever they're called, come out. Anyone got any ideas on what this actually is? poguemahone 0 Posted September 15, 2003 (edited) On the Enterprise Ship Tour on ST.com it says it houses the "Impluse Rockets", but its big enough they could have also put a torpedo bay in during the Re-Fit. Jack_Bauer 1 Posted September 18, 2003 Actually it is a symmetrical warp field generator. http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/articles/nx01.htm
Captain Jean-Luc Picard 1 Posted September 18, 2003 Poguemahone, that's side view. I think those "impulse rockets" are in referrence to the Impulse Engines at the back of the ship, not the "pod" between the nacelles. Jack_Bauer, while this is a fan site, having some kind of engine stabliser pod with an added torpedoe launch makes the most sense to me.
