Imposter armored guard heist

Recommended Posts

The FBI has charged six people in connection with a bank heist that seemed more like a plot from a movie.

Agents said six people are in custody in the Wednesday's robbery at a BB&T branch in Wheaton, Maryland.

One of those charged is a woman who worked at the bank.

Police said a man dressed in a Brinks armored guard uniform walked in and asked for the morning's deposit.

He walked out with half a million dollars in cash.

The next day, a real Brinks guard arrived at the bank and was told that another guard had completed the day's cash pickup.

The FBI arrested BB&T employee Elizabeth Tarkeon Saturday.

According to arrest records she had at least one meeting in her home with one of the five men charged.

Agents said most of the stolen cash has been recovered.

Agents are trying to connect the heist to another robbery Thursday at a Wachovia branch in Washington, DC.

That robbery took place right across the street from the FBI's J. Edgar Hoover building.
