Boy drives family's SUV through garage door, pushes car into home

MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Apparently these two young brothers would rather drive an SUV than ride a tricycle.

 

The boys, ages 4 and 2, engaged their parents' sport utility vehicle this week, knocking it through their garage door and pushing a parked car through a wall of the house.

 

Neither child was injured, but the incident left the wall, garage and both vehicles with moderate damage, said Madison police spokesman Joel DeSpain.

 

The parents apparently kept the SUV keys on a bedroom shelf. The 4-year-old showed officers how he was able to reach the shelf by climbing on a nearby storage cabinet.

 

He then demonstrated how he was able to get into the SUV, put the keys in the ignition, start the vehicle, step on the brake and put the gearshift in drive.

 

At the time of the incident, the mother thought the kids were in the playroom. About 8:30 a.m. Tuesday she heard a loud crash and ran into the room, where she saw the wall pushed in and the other car partially inside the house. She managed to get outside and turn off the SUV before pulling the boys out safely.

 

You gotta admit....this is one brilliant 4 year old!
