Vic 17 Posted September 24, 2007 Canadian town with the same name as Spock's planet puts tourism coordinator to work lobbying Paramount. By Michelle September 24, 2007 - 11:08 PM Vulcan would like to play host to the premiere of the eleventh Star Trek feature film. Vulcan, Alberta, that is. The Vulcan Advocate quoted the city's tourism coordinator, Dayna Dickens, as saying that she was hard at work convincing Paramount to have the world premiere in a place with the same name as Spock's home planet. "I’m just starting to pull the idea together," said Dickens at a District Chamber of Commerce meeting on September 13th. The film is scheduled to be released on December 25th, 2008. "Hopefully Paramount will say yes," added Dickens, who has been compiling articles about Vulcan as well as photos of residents in Star Trek uniforms. "The potential for publicity is good." http://www.trektoday.com/news/240907_01.shtml
