youbroughtheryouRiker 2 Posted January 12, 2006 A smiling Jefferson? How well does that behoove him? I mean, I'm sure he must have smiled at one point, but really, it just doesn't seem fitting. I am glad, however, that they are putting Monticello back on the back of the coin. I think it's only proper.
trekz 7 Posted January 13, 2006 I think it's VERY fitting to have emphasized the Lewis and Clark expedition on its bicentennial. It was an impressive feat at that time to travel that distance and to encounter so many things that were new to these travellers, while exploring major portions of territory that became part of the U.S. I've travelled portions of the route and it's still impressive that the expedition made it there and back with only one man dying. It's also very appropriate to have Monticello back on the nickel. I've only been there once, but it was also impressive and a tribute to Jefferson who designed it. IMO every American should see it, along with the homes and sites associated with the other founding fathers.
Odie 0 Posted January 13, 2006 I believe its fitting to have him smiling with Monticello. That was the place where found peace in his life.
youbroughtheryouRiker 2 Posted January 14, 2006 Very true, Odie. Jefferson once had a phrase for the White House, and I'll have to get ahold of the book I found it in before I can post it here. However, I do know that part of his bias against the White House was the fact that he submitted a design for it under the pseudonym Abraham Faws, but his design was rejected. sea trooper 0 Posted January 14, 2006 The buffalo was bad enough. Just leave the nickles alone. Step away.
VaBeachGuy 12 Posted January 14, 2006 I like it, I got one while I was in Maryland last week, I put it in my pocket and forgot about it though.

Wishfire 2 Posted January 14, 2006 Another new nickel? Why don't they wait until they finish all the quarters?
