Takara_Soong 4 Posted November 29, 2005 Utrecht, the Netherlands (Sports Network) - Fan favorite David di Tommaso died in his sleep Monday evening. The Utrecht defender's cause of death has not yet been determined. The 26-year-old had been voted player of the year for the 2004/2005 season in a poll by Utrecht fans. The Frenchman joined Utrecht after spending the 2004 campaign playing for Ardennes. Di Tommaso also played in all 13 Eredivisie games this season for the club. "Everyone at FC Utrecht is devastated by this sad event," said Utrecht chairman Jan Willem van Dop. "David was a terrific player, but also a lovely man, a fine colleague to his teammates and also to the club staff. Our thoughts are with David's wife and their little son."
