It looks like bad news for anyone who had planned on attending this convention. This has been posted at the convention website:

The administrative board for Trekkers Norway has decide to postpone the Warp Convention planned for July 2006.

The work of gathering sponsors has and will take up more time than we have available at the moment. Alot of sponsors or a very high number of sold tickets is required to meet the budget planned so far. The Star Trek community is not large enough to support the ticket sale we need, nor can we guarantee to acquire the needed amount from sponsors in the time we have left.

By postponing the convention we can continue the effort in a pace that will not exhaust any of the boardmembers and we can work towards securing a convention Trekkers Norway's members both deserve and can be proud of.

Alot of changes in 2006 are a base for this decision. The preliminary work for the convention will naturally fall on the local Trekkers department in Stavanger, and the administrative board finds this unacceptable with only one person and a helper as the situation is now. The remaining board is located in other parts of the country to be any real help and the number of available memebers in the area is too low for this work without wearing them out before long.

Since Trekkers Norway want's the first convention to be a huge success and some trialproject, any change has to be taken seriously. Ideas and solutions and carefully balanced and the decision of postponing the convention was not taken lightly. We still view this positively as it openes up oppurtunities to secure our goal of creating a convention to be remembered.

The board will soon look into setting a new date for the convention. The decision of which city to host the convention will be reevaluated as to approatch the issue of who will be working with the convention. This will help the board members utilize more local people in the project. We will also take under advicement the tip from Tim Russ (Voyager's Tuvok) about makeing a more genetal Sci-Fi convention rather then a pure Star Trek one. Doing this will appeal to more people and the ticket sale can be a real factor in the budget. It is also our wish to involve more members of Trekkers Norway in the process of content management such as series and films during the convention.

Everyone involved with the convention will be contacted, and all people who have baught tickets will be refunded. En email containg the information about how the refund will be administered is in the process of being sent out.

Trekkers Norway sincerely apologises for this postpone, but we believe it to be the best decision in the current situation and we think it will strengten our coars towards the next convention. We hope our members and partners understand and support our decision and help us work towards a convention we can all be proud of.
