Who else is watching Strange on the BBC. For those who don't know, it is a cross between the X-Files and Buffy for adults. It is a fantastic show and the best to come out of the UK for a while. Long may it live.

What's it about?

Basically, it is about a chap called John Strange. He is an ex-priest and is on a personal mission to battle demons. However he is hindered along the way by the Bishop and the whole church establishment (Church of England/Protestant just in case you wondered), he is a bit like the Cigeratte Smoking Man in The X Files.

John Strange also befriends a young nurse, and she is the Scully sort of character but a bit less of a sceptic.

Basically it is a combination of the X Files and Buffy but it has very good horror timing and tends to imply more than it shows, unlike Buffy which shows everything and loses any tension because of it. Strange also has a really good musical score that complements the creation of tension and adds to the shock value.

The episode on Saturday was about a little girl who made a pact with the devil that she would seek out victims whose souls would go straight to hell so that she might live. She allows the headless horseman to take her father away but her innocent sister, whom she loves, is blamed and locked in the walls of a church. Fast forwad 100 years and John Strange is on the case as recent events have led to the girl (now looking quite old) to kill again.
