Tonight on Enterprise

I found it interesting tonight to see that they decided not to be true to the original airing of this episode. Originally when tonight's episode aired the original theme was the one played at the beginning and the title was still just "Enterprise" not "Star Trek Enterprise".

 

I'm disappointed to see that they altered the original work.

If they did that to the DVDs I am going to be so PO'ed off! I want the original! All the Fixes screwed it up more then it was to begin with.

Changing the name was pointless.

 

As if people wouldn't know it was a Star Trek show?

 

The "Country Boy" remix of the opening theme was also unnecessary. The opening theme was never great, but the new version turned an average theme song into a horrible theme song.

I always hated the theme song. I much prefer the grand orchestral music of the previous Treks.

I didn't mind the name change. It's not like it matters to any of us. We use shorthand for every series.

 

The original theme was better than the remix IMO.

 

The biggest problem with the remix was that it moved in the opposite direction of the show. Enterprise got darker in season 3 and the theme became happier.

 

I love the song. It is totally consistent with the vision of Enterprise and Star Trek in general, but the remix wasn't necessary.

I agree, somewhere here I went through the song line by line and explained what it meant to me in terms of Enterprise and why it was proper for the series. The upbeat version may have been appropriate if they had started the series with it but with the turn in direction of season 3 it just didn't fit.

 

As for the style being different from TNG, DS9 and Voyager that was fine with me. After all none of those series stayed true to the TOS opening so why shoudl a 5th series stay true to the others? We should want differences in new series otherwise what's the point?

 

People just have to learn to be open minded to change.

I liked the original theme. I think they should have used this version from seasons three and four as season one and two's theme. The first theme was darker and more menecing, which would have suited the Xindi conflict, as well as the augments and klingons.

That's what I mean, the fixes only stepped on and ruined it's uniqueness.

 

 

I also liked the title better without the prefix; that way better symbolized that the actual Trek had not begun yet (was respectful of TOS) and that in turn better explains why it was different from the later series.
