Sometimes I hate computers

Recommended Posts

I've had a few minor issues with my Windows for about 6 months or so but nothing too serious. A couple days ago I decided to install a fresh copy of Windows onto a second hard drive that I have and begin using it little by little. My intention was to continue using my main Windows (the one with the little problems) while I start getting the new one set to where it has all of my programs on it.

Well, after installing Windows on the new drive I discovered that it had altered my main OS without prompting me. It's just now (2 days later) that I'm getting things worked out, so that's why I haven't been on much this weekend.

On another note, I just bought 2 new pieces of hardware for my PC. A 250 Gigabyte hard drive and a 12x Dual Layer DVD -/+ RW burner, so as much as I hate computers at times I love them even more at other times lol.

Anyway, until I get things working 100% on this end theres a couple things that might take a couple days to be able to get done. Like adding new banners to the rotation.

Windows is so tricky sometimes... I installed drivers for a new cam today, then had to go back and leave the CD in the drive for it to actually find the drivers... At least you got everything worked out VBG. I broke my first computer so bad, even oversea help didn't work... I had uninstalled the modem by clicking the wrong button.

When installing a new copy of windows make sure you read everything it says in the blue screen area. You might of skiped the part where it says... Install new copy, use un formated area for new copy, replace old copy.

What did it do to your other windows, VBG?

It was the NTLDR that was altered by installing another copy of Windows onto another hard drive. It shouldn't have altered or damaged it but for some reason it did.

I was able to repair that copy of windows so I can boot to it but for right now I can't access the internet when I'm using it.

Yeah, I've never liked Windows and have even told Microsoft reps to their faces (at seminars) that I wish some company would rise up to challenge them and their monopoly.

I used to own a business building and repairing computers so I'm well versed in Windows problems, I can't even imagine how someone without a computer background would deal with some of the problems you find in their software.

No, I didn't miss it. It didn't touch that installation and shouldn't have done anything on that hard drive at all. But it altered the NTLDR for some reason and seems to be a bug that's happened to others in the past. I've installed XP at least 10 times on my systems and many other times on other people's systems, this is the first time I've had this problem though. No big deal though, I was able to repair it and can still access that copy.

:eek::eek: Did someone say "computers" ?! I LOVE THEM!!!

At college i'm learning what you are doing now, VBG-

Installing OS's,

Building CPU's,

like starting from scratch with pieces all over the floor....

I love it when something goes wrong :look: ... More practise for me!!! :mad1:
