Wishfire 2 Posted December 16, 2004 Have you ever been to New Orleans? Do you want to go there? I love that city. Ever since I was 12, I've had an extreme interest in New Orleans. I have no clue why, but I've always felt drawn there. So when I got there in 2000, it felt to me like I was coming home. It's a party city, so I quickly became a party monster, but it's more than that. While I was there, I was dating a Finnish girl named Mina. We would spend hours in parks in the Garden District eating cheese and drinking wine, either talking or simply watching everything around us. Other times, I'd be roaming the French Quarter (the Vieux Carre) raiding the the clubs and hanging out with the gutter punks. While there's several large ghetto areas, the city is definitely the most beautiful I've ever seen. Even now I'm drawn to it. It's worse now that I've been there and left. Sometimes it feels like I belong there somehow. Kinda like my destiny is linked with New Orleans. I don't know how to explain it. Happily, I'll be returning there soon. It's a well-known fact the New Orleans celebrates Mardi Gras in a huge way. In New Orleans, the celebration begins two weeks before Mardi Gras day. For 2005, that means it'll start on January 25th, which is quite early in the year. I'll be there. Working, hopefully, but I'll be there. And trust me, I'll be taking pictures to post here! Although it's been many years since I've been there, and I was sick from eating oysters and drinking too much, I still had a great time. Have fun at Mardi Gras, I look forward to seeing the pictures! Yillara Skye 1 Posted December 16, 2004 I am going to make sure my sister knows about this thread, she was there in her senior year of high school and participated in two of the parades in Mardi Gras (I believe it was the Endymion and the Bacchus) as part of our high school marching band.
