My Klingon translation of

Recommended Posts

I have been able to translate "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" into Klingon. I believe most of it is accurate (I got it all from the Klingon dictionary). Here it goes:

tlhap jIH Hur ghah poo moQ Quj

tlhap jIH Hur ghah poo ghom'a'

jey jIH vay' peanuts je crackerjacks

jIH be Sah chugh jIH not Sug Doh

'et 'ohs van, van, van, 'et poo naQ ghom

chugh bIH be chargh 'oHs a tuHmoH

'et 'oHs wa' cha' wej mups tlhIH Hur

'a poo ngo' moQ Quj

The only two words with no translation are peanuts and crackerjacks, but the rest I was able to. Next time you're at a ball game, start chanting it.

I'll translate back into English too so you can match it up.

Take me out to the ball game

Take me out to the crowd

Buy me some peanuts and crackerjacks

I don't care if I ever get back

For it's root, root, root, for the whole team

If they don't win it's a shame

For it's one two three strikes you're out

At the old ball game

Good Work for all of that hard effort that was put into it!

Even though I don’t know how to write in Klingon yet the only problem that I see is the possible grammar errors. For example in English we write in subject-verb-object, but in Kligons it is written as object-verb-subject. So that’s one potential error, but once everyone here that wants to participate figures out some of the language we will be sure to fix it. (And I hope that you are one of the people who wishes to participate)

Shouldn't that be "For it's root, root, root, for the Home team"?

I think I might try to follow along, but I usually don't have a horribly great amount of time. I'll certainly try though.

Thanks for the complements! :)

Also, fell free to fix the grammar and anything else for those of you who are going to be learning it regularly.

 Hee hee, I like that! but how do you pronounce it? I'd love to be able to sing it!

Are there Klingon rules of pronunciation anywhere? :spock:

Well, first off I hope that you are aware that this translation is inaccurate. (For reasons I mentioned above)

For rules on pronunciation - just look over this forum and you should find a few links & references
