TransporterMalfunction 1 Posted May 11, 2003 Has Patrick Stewart ever played King Lear in a film or on stage? I think he would do well, sadly he is probably too old for Macbeth or Hamlet.

Takara_Soong 4 Posted May 11, 2003 Has Patrick Stewart ever played King Lear in a film or on stage? I think he would do well, sadly he is probably too old for Macbeth or Hamlet. Patrick Stewart's production company produced a movie called King of Texas which was King Lear updated to the 1840's in which Patrick Stewart played the lead, John Lear. According to his official website he hasn't done King Lear in the theatre since the late 60's and in that production he played the Duke of Cromwell.

After years of watching him on the screen I definitely believe that he has the acting ability. In the world of film I believe him to be very underated.
