Higgs boson A 5.5 billion dollar physics project is being planed to test the existence of the "God particle," which might have been present in the first billionths of a second after the Big Bang. The project involves building an underground atom smasher that would collide particles, at close to the speed of light ( c ), from opposite ends of a 20-mile tunnel. Physicists hope the "God particle" would then appear after the resulting explosion that would recreate the conditions during those first billionths of a second after the Big Bang. Brain Foster of Oxford University said in THIS article, from the Guardian; "[this] will hopefully reveal new and exciting physics, addressing the 21st century agenda of compelling question about dark matter and dark energy, the existence of extra dimensions and the fundamental nature of matter, energy, space and time."
