Nemesis DVD Menus

Elaborate menus for DVDs have become standard for most high-profile releases and the new screens for Paramount Home Entertainment's May 20 release of "Star Trek Nemesis" are no exception. Produced by 1K Studios, the menus feature high-quality digital images of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-E, the Scimitar and more.

In case you're wondering how this all works, SFX specialists Digital Domain, who worked on the digital effects for the film, supplied 1K Studios with the 3-D models of the various ships, which were in turn painted, animated and then composited into the various sections of the DVD menus. What it amounts to is a fun, interactive experience for the DVD user.

STARTREK.COM brings you an exclusive early peek at what you'll see when you pop this DVD into your player.

The DVD of "Star Trek Nemesis" will be released on May 20 and features seven deleted scenes, along with director Stuart Baird's commentary. You can pre-order your copy today by clicking the first link below.

I’m not sure if I will buy it (I did not like the movie). I probably will, but if I do it won’t be right away. For the menu it looks ok, but it is kind of hard to tell until you to you really see it on screen in your DVD player (or computer DVD-drive).

Some people just don't like them...for me personally it depends on the movie on whether I like the full screen or wide screen version. I have the otehr TNG movies in their widescreen format....and I really don't see a problem with them.

The thing is, widescreen tv's are coming out. That's why DVD's are widescreen, plus it's ment to restore the "full frame" of the movie. Now, I can't stand watching VHS becuase you can tell the frame's been cut off on the sides. As long as it's a big tv, it shouldn't really matter.

Ahem. I think the menus look cool, I was surprised at the difference in sizes of the two wessels ;) I did not see that size difference on the big screen, perhaps I was more into the story than I had first thought! I am beginning to get Nemesis fever!

( Except for the wide screen part, I hate wide scren)

the menus pretty cool, after seeing NEMESIS agian on the plane to cali in march i cant wait to buy it, and check out the menu and the deleted scenes myself. i love DVD i bought my player almost 4 years ago now, and it was the best thing i ever did.

now for the WIDESCREEN hater they do usually have both available, if you check out the packaging a lot of the big movies will have both available, just look for FULL SCREEN or WIDESCREEN. personally I LOVE THE WIDESCREEN, you get to see THE WHOLE PICTURE JUST LIKE IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE, i watched all that on my small tv and loved it, but about 6 to 8 months ago i bought my 55 inch WIDESCREEN tv so its even better now. but i have one complaint they need to make all the widescreen movies anamorphic so it fits the screen, but i still love it. i dont like looking at a picture thats been chopped at the sides. here i go ranting and raving again. i guess ill stop now. lol

I SECOND a lot of what has been said.

WIDESCREEN is the way to go. You get more info and when I finally get to buy the widescreen HD TV I want it will fit perfectly. All of those PAN&SCAN flicks will look like garbage because they will get stretched out.

My DVD player was also one of the best things I bought. Unfortionatly, three and a half years ago, it cost me a whopping 300 bucks, and although it's a really good player it doesn't support CD-R's or MP3 like some of the cheaper 50 dollar players. (They just didn't have those features back then I guess.) Darn it.

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to the Nemesis DVD and only wish it was a special extended edition because I wanted more of the wedding.

OK, I'm done.

I hate that they chop off half the picture - you miss so much, even if it isnt important, sometimes little things like that can make the difference between a great and a horrible movie.
