Has anyone ever read or heard of M.R. James and his ghost stories?

James wrote several short stories for his students at Eton College in the first decade of the 20th Century, many of which have been converted into television productions during the 70's that were televised over the Christmas period. Here is an interesting link to a site where you can read several of these eerie tales: http://www.fadl12200.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/mrjframes.html

Here are a couple of the video covers from the adaptations from some of his stories, although I hasten to add that the short stories are perhaps even more eerie to read as some of his excellent descriptions cannot be recreated in film media.
