stoned_vulcan 0 Posted March 19, 2004 at the end of DS9's run we had a glimpse into the political resrtucture of ferenginar, they started making it more like earth, do you think this is better? Or do you believe that the ferengi's pursuits of profit and aquisition of wealth is what made them unique and the end of DS9 ruined that uniqueness
Captain Bolivar 0 Posted March 19, 2004 The new one is boring. There is a reason why they didn't change it before the end of Deep Space Nice. Because nobody would have liked it.
VaBeachGuy 12 Posted March 19, 2004 They left us with the impression that they changed it, but don't forget about the "Ferengi Benevolent Commission". Rom was placed in charge of that and embezzled latinum from Zek's accounts. Rom may be more "Huumon-like" then other Ferengi but he's still a Ferengi. It wouldn't surprise me if Rom didn't keep more of the old then we may think.
Gelt 0 Posted April 1, 2005 I actually think this was a great move for the Ferengi Alliance. As it's now been a few years since the implementation of these reforms, we've seen quite an increas in Ferengi commerce. Sure, there have been some businesses that have suffered, but they did not re-market correctly. Women's clothing has, for example, opened a whole new venue for profit on Ferenginar. Not to mention salves and ointments for women's skin; since their bodies aren't used to fabric rubbing on them all the time they've needed these things. As FCN (the Ferengi Commercial News) has reported, profits are on a whole up, and the Great Material Continum has been revived in a way we've not seen since the hey-day of former nagus Zek. The new Grand Nagus Rom is gaining popularity daily, and many are changing over to be for the reforms daily.
