He knows that radium is radioactive and when a radioactive substance decays, the # of atoms that decay in a fixed time period is proportional to the # of atoms a t the start of that period. Data also knows that radium is known to decay so that after 1,600 years the amount of radium is halved. Data also knows that there are initially 10 grams of radium.
