  1. Here's my thought...

1 Historian to keep the history of our world alive,

A team of medical professionals (Doctors,Nurses, dentists) because medicine will still be needed, and they can pass on their knowledge to others.

An Engineer, who can be put in charge of rebuilding, And can again pass on his knowledge to others through apprenticeships.

A mathmatician, and an expert in the various sciences (Chemistry, Physics, etc.) who can educate others.

    A lawyer

    some skilled laborers

A police officer (To keep the peace)

a skilled hunter (Remember, after the "end of the world" Jewel, Piggly Wiggly, Winn-Dixie and those other supermarkets are out of business)

probably a few tailors (Again, no stores, someone's gotta make clothes)

probably a skilled chef (Someone's gotta cook...)

    some unskilled laborers

And probably a few people who are there for leadership. Military officers or politicians. I'd lean more towards military officers, because we've already got a lawyer or two aboard, and we've got to control the climate on the ship somehow. Leaving the politicians behind would definately reduce the level of hot-air.

  2. Useless fact: This weekend, STF.net will be Phaserman-free. Jim and Gary have a drill weekend, and Krissy and I, along with Sarge and Mrs. Sarge, are takin' the kids up to the Dells.

All those Dell computers and you can't get online?

Nah....the Dells are that alternative lifestyle couple that live down the road.................

A bunch of (I'm trying to misspell a badword but can't)' Jokers.

We went to the Wisconsin Dells. Did you know: Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin is the waterpark capitol of the World? And, America's largest indoor and outdoor waterparks (Kalahari and Noah's Ark, respectively) are located there.

  3. The only way we'll really reduce gas prices is to change our lifestyles and use less gas

Many of us don't have that option due to work unless its ok for you not to have packages, newspapers, mail, etc. delivered to your house.

A quick way to reduce the price of oil is for the government to stop imposing outrageous taxes on every gallon of gas. Currently, the gas tax is about 60 cents per gallon. The oil companies supposedly make about 8-9 cents per gallon.

9 cents per gallon, 55 gallons in a barrel, right? If each oil company sells 15,000,000 barrels per day, that's $74.25 MILLION dollars a DAY that they make.

Now, the Gas tax, that's the Federal tax, states also have their own, which is why gas is more expensive, for example, in Pleasant Prarie, Wisconsin than it is in Winthrop Harbor, Illinois, even though those two cities are seperated by the imaginary line that is the Illinois/Wisconsin border.

  4. I'm kinda rewriting a song in my head. Krissy played C-Rena's "Fell in love with a Tipper", a come-back song to T-pain's "I'm N Luv wit a strippa", and now I've been working on a rewrite in my head, singing it to myself...

    "He's my sugar daddy,

and I knew from the moment that he stepped off of the ship,

    I must be slippin'

    He got me trippin',

    He's sayin' the right things,

I think I'm goin' with him to the crib to do that night thing...

Fell in love with the skipper..."

that's all I've got. It's really about Jim, even though the only vessel he commands is his truck....

Edit: I can't spell "Sugar" right...

  5. I love Gene Roddenberry's concept that Earth is a utopia in the future, where Humans are more concerned with bettering themselves than with gaining wealth and power. However, it is unlikely that EVERY alien species we encounter will share the same values. Hell, it's not easy to get two HUMAN cultures to agree on things. Look at all the constant disagreements between America and France, and America and Canada, and North Korea and South Korea.

  6. ...I see no reason why a well rounded Starfleet crew can't take pride in being explorers and defenders of their homes. There's no shame in being a soldier.

Exactly, APW. When I was in the Navy, I was a Hospital Corpsmen (Medic), and my job was to fix people up, but I still take great pride in the fact that I did defend my country (The only ship I was assigned to helped overthrow the Taliban.)

  7. I like a few from Insurrection...

Geordi: Engineering to bridge! We're burning Dueterium down here, we're gonna blow ourselves up, we won't need any help from the Son'a!

    and...

Riker: Photon Torpedoes. Isn't that the universal greeting?

Geordi: I think it's the universal greeting when you don't like someone.

    And..

Riker: We're through running from these bastards!

  8. I like the idea we have in the Sim I am in. As an overarching command, you have Starfleet Command, with the Chief of Staff of Starfleet. Her "Joint Chiefs" Include various Admirals who command specialty subgroups. Starfleet Exploration and Science Command, Starfleet Diplomatic Corps, and Starfleet Strategic and Tactical Operations Command, and Starfleet Medical. Plus, you've also got support commands: Starfleet Spacelift Command, Starfleet Education and Training Command (who runs enlisted Boot Camps, the Academy, and the various job-schools), and Starfleet Research and Development Command. I think Jim even said there is a Starfleet Logistical Support Command, too.

Now, under the Strategic and Tactical Command (SSTC), you have the main Battle elements of Starfleet (all of her dedicated Warships), the Starfleet Marine Corps, and the Starfleet Fighter and Bomber Command. they take care of the fighting. Ships assigned to Exploration and Research are essentially the run of the mill starships, like the Galaxy class, and also ships like the Oberth class.

  9. Okay, look down at my signature. See the part where it has 4 gold bars, and then says Julie Millenhiem, etc? That's what I'm offering. Customised Signature Nameplates. If you ask, I can create one for your sim Charactor. It will have have be like mine. It will show your rank insignia, your charactor's "signature", name, and possition. I've got two examples for you.

    This is Jim's

    post-989-1142559557.jpg

    and this is mine.

    post-989-1142559583.jpg

If you want, I can also put the URL for your sim into the bottom. When I'm done, I'll E-mail it to you. Then, you can upload it to a host, such as Photobucket, and put it into your signature. If you really know what you're doing, you can make it into a link. (I'll actually post a code for that later)
