I got TWOK DVD for my x-mas and on the text commentary by Michael Okuda he says the very same thing about this scene. No explanation was given so it probably was just for shock value. Worked a treat though!!!

Well I think The Final Frontier is the weakest of the bunch, which is a shame as I regard the other TOS movies quite highly.It does however have some of the funniest scenes and dialogue than the other movies with the exception of perhaps The Voyage Home.

My vote went to The Wrath Of Khan.21 years later and it's still fantastic. However,I thought Nemesis gave it a pretty good run for it's money.They both had fantastic villains.Hmmm.... Maybe if Shinzon had started to quote Moby (Please stop me from cursing) things might have been different!!!!

Actually they are not the same species,BUT ,they were both played by the same actor!
