  1. I was starting to think maybe I was an $#@!,like the friendly characters at startrek.com suggested

Well one advantage we have here is that if someone does call you a name or suggest that you perform an unnatural act as a way of causing trouble like people do at STARTREK.COM there's usually a Mod here to take care of things before it gets out of hand.

Even if someone were to register using a new name as a way of hiding to try to cause trouble we would detect it right away because the board has IP identifying software.

  2. ah, cool....and you follow Aussie Rules?

Yeah, the games are shown on local cable television.I've been watching the AFL Game of the Week since '96 or '97.I just picked the Magpies for my team because they were usually on the game of the week.

    You in Fresno,Visalia,or Coalinga Smiley?

Yeah, the market used to be a church, and then a post office.Old Rosa's dead.Been dead a couple of years now.She did make great food.Especially tamales.Everybody around here misses her.Her daughter is such a B$#@!....hard to believe they're related.Anyway, the daughter runs things now.

I wouldn't eat those fish if I were you,or the ducks or rabbits. That lake's polluted. We don't even swim in it.

  3.

    B) Okay.Great.I'd hate to think I ticked off somebody so soon after registering.I was starting to think maybe I was an $#@!,like the friendly characters at startrek.com suggested, and that maybe I should $#@! myself (another of their suggestions...which,I'm not entirely certain is physically possible, unless you are a Yoga expert like Rene Auberjonoise....ewww,I know I mangled his name.Sorry Odo)

  4. Where am I....?

That reminds me of something said on a Star Wars film....

"If there is a bright center of the universe somewhere, then I'm in a place where its farthest away from."

Raisin City,California....population (well, that depends on how many coyotes are out in the vineyards hunting rabbits at any given time)....

We've got a gas station/store,uhm...that same place rents a very,VERY small selection of videos (I don't think they've heard about the invention of the DVD or computers),and well, that's about it.The kids get bussed more than an hour away to school. If you want a cop or a fireman, you'd be better off dealing with whatever it is yourself, unless you'd like to wait 3 or 4 hours (for the policeman,anyway...you can get a fireman in an hour on a good day, same for an ambulance).

On the up-side we do have lovely views of vineyards and....well,vineyards.And when the smog isn't too think from agricultural burning, you might even be able to see the Pacific Coast Range or the Sierra Nevadas!

  5. You can tell that people in the 23rd and 24th centuries don't swear often...because they don't know how,its obvious when they do so on screen. All of these examples are proof.

That could be a good thing.

Though,to be honest two-thirds of my vocabulary would be lost if I suddenly couldn't use,er,"colorful metaphors".....but hey,I was raised by US Army world war 2 vet and retired drill instructor.I think my dad cursed while praying at night.

  6. Among other examples I could list,I'll mention the hard work and sacrafice of the Cardassian military and Obsedian Order in engaging and defeating the Maquis,a radical band of peace-hating outlaws who terrorized the worlds of the Demiliterized Zone for years. The Maquis were known for their savage and inhumane tactics, such as stealing and re-programming data gathering probes "Dreadnoughts" into horrible weapons which they directed at defenseless Cardassian settlements, seeding planetary atmosphere's with potentially lethal bioweapons harmful to Cardassians and reptilian-humanoid species in general, intimidation of non-military Cardassian settlers (often elderly,or females and children!),and harrassment of DMZ citizens who wished to live in peace with their Cardassian neighbors. So brutal were the Maquis that even the Starfleet of the Federation was forced to undertake strategic operations against them!

Another example would be the trade between Dozaria and Cardassia.Though the Dozarians, poor and backward as they are, have little the Cardassian people recquire, the central government of Cardassia Prime maintains a steady trade in order to help the fragile economy on Dozaria,at expense to Cardassia itself.

Thirdly, the stewardship of Bajor. The Cardassians were ultimately unable to help the Bajora bring a standardized level of civility and prosperity to Bajor, due largely to constant interference from a small band of murderous Bajoran terrorists.During the Cardassian presence on Bajor Terok Nor was built (a great feat of engineering) and programs were inacted to help shape the Bajora into a hard-working and self-sufficient people.

What other examples of Cardassian kindness can you contribute?

  7. The Cardassian people have always been among the more civilized of the galaxy's myriad peoples.Cardassians place a high value on their literature, music, art, and science.Cardassians are spiritual and peace loving, and have made many examples of selflessly helping their less fortunate neighbors....though the kindness of Cardassia has often been sadly mistaken for weakness and "empire building",when in fact it was just the opposite.

Cardassians have proven themselves loyal, hard working, accomplished warriors, and talented engineers.

It is a mark of pride amongst Cardassians that their civilization continued to flourish through the hardships and societal anarchy before the military came to power and restored balance and justice to the homeworld. In just a short while the Cardassian people went from a resource poor, impoverished pre-warp society to a power to be reckoned with in the alpha quadrant, with outposts on worlds they hadn't known only a century before! All Cardassia is grateful to its military.

  8. YOU POMS WON ON A TECHNICALITY, A DRAW WOULD HAVE BEEN FINE......BUT WE HAD TO PLAY EXTRA TIME - DAMN YOU POMY BASTARDS.....you killed our dream

DAMN YOU POMY BASTARDS.....you killed our dream

DAMN YOU POMY BASTARDS.....you killed our dream

JUST REMEMBER : revenge is a dish best served cold

Take heart. You Aussies still have the best game in the world....Australian Rules Football!

  9. Its tragic the way Gul Dukat met his end on Deep Space Nine.

The man was a fine officer,a natural born leader, intelligent, and possessed of a great wit.He devoted himself,at the cost of sacraficing much of his personal life,to the Bajoran people.Under his guidance Terok Nor was a shining example of what could be achieved by the Bajorans!

Indeed,so fond of the Bajorans was Dukat, that he took a Bajoran for a lover and sired an offspring,Ziyal who showed what great beauty was possible through Cardassian and Bajoran cooperation and peaceful co-existance.

Yet,because of a murderous handful of Bajoran rabble...Terrorists!Cardassia and peace loving Bajorans had all of their hopes and dreams dashed. We all know the troubles Bajor has experienced since the Cardassian withdrawal. The fighting over agricultural equipment and industrial replicators (which,I might point out were never needed under Cardassian stewardship.),the in-fighting between the provisional government and terrorist cells like "The Circle".The introduction to the system of permanent Klingon and Romulan garrisons. Not to mention the criminal presence of the Maquis,a mercenary guerilla force of rogues from worlds across the alpha quadrant.Sigh.

And still,Dukat,in his love of the Bajora remained resolute in his desire to bring them the real peace and prosperity they deserved! But time and again, his efforts met with resistence and hostility. In the end, driving the poor man quite mad.

Yet,for a moment, imagine what could have been possible had Dukat remained in authority.Had Cardassia remained committed to Bajor for just a little longer.

"Headline....Bajoran terrorist cells smashed!Peace restored to Bajor!Spontaneous celebrations erupt in the streets of Bajoran cities around the globe...."

Dukat would have secured for himself and for Cardassia a place in history as heroes of a backward-turned-civilized people, now fully capable of taking their places beside their Cardassian brothers in the galaxy at-large.

    Just imagine.

  10. maybe we are pushing the extremes on what is allowed in these forums..but dont u think that u are believing too much of the cardassian propaganda...i mean seriously...the cardassian-bajoran conflict had similar parallels with the jewish-german holocaust or perhaps the japanese-korean occupation dont u think? bajorans, jews, and koreans were forced to work for no wage, but food stipens in camps that did nothing to educate or prosper those peoples...  bajoran, jewish, and korean woman served as "comfort" women for their captors as well....i mean dont u think that you are a out of line to claim such grandiose statements when bajoran-cardassian relations so closely parallels the plight of korean and jewish peoples???

Do we have a molar in registration for you, deagletime? You bare watching...

    lighten up.I'm a cardassian,get it?Pretending?Play acting?Posting in character?Sheesh...

  11.

The anti-cardassian propoganda on DS9 was horrible.

The Bajorans are children. They constantly squabble and fight amongst themselves about every little thing. They seperated their society into castes which severely limited the potential of all Bajorans. They force their Prophet worship on all Bajorans, even those disinclined to believe (who either convert or face ostrasization).

The Cardassian government and people were merely helping the Bajorans evolve into a truly civilized culture, during the so-called "Occupation" (I'd rather call it a stewardship of Bajor until the Bajorans were better able to run their own affairs).

The Bajorans were taught the admirable work ethic of the Cardassians (something they constantly protested, being naturally inclined to sloth),and were well provided for in the communal settlements (wrongly termed "Concentration Camps" by the enemies of the Cardassian people),in which they were encouraged to build better lives from themselves by living off the land.

Yet at every turn the Bajorans attacked and murdered their Cardassian benefactors as recompense for all of Cardassia's selflessness and charity.

Eventually, when Cardassia's central government came to the sad decision that no ammount of guidance would develop truly civilized society on Bajor and abandoned its missions there, the Bajora invited in the United Federation of Planets. An interstellar government that swallows up independent star systems under the disguise of peaceful co-existance and shared power within the Federation High Council. Its obvious to anyone, that the UFP is nothing more than a Human controlled Empire, with Vulcans as the intellectual puppets of the High Council.
