Seeing as Klingon culture is based on several Earth cultures combined, they wouldn't have any problems finding similarities. All they have to do is find us Klingon fans and say hello. We already speak their language, wear their uniforms and worship them like gods.
I think a much more intresting question would be, "How would you react if you found a truly alien culture?". Somewhere where the socital norms are all backwords, moral codes are turned inside out and upside down, religion doesn't exist or is so different you could barely comprehend.
Trek is one of the doorways to greater understanding. Most people just hang around the entrance and peek in from time to time, but those that jump inside and run screaming through the corridors ultimatly learn the true message of Trek and what Gene was really trying to teach us.

Kruge was one of our greatest warriors. He died an honourable death fighting the evil dishourable Captain Kirk. We in the Empire just wish that Kruge had shot that taHqeq when he had the chance!

Why is B'Elanna even on there, she isn't even a real Klingon! She barely has any ridges. How can anyone find that attractive?!?

Human's have weak stomachs too! Klingon food is delicious! The closes thing I can get on this planet is sashimi, and I eat it by the bucket load, espiecially octopus tenticals. I love them!

You human's are so weak and fragile. Most Klingon women wouldn't touch you with a painstick! You break to easily.

Klingon food is wonderful. You'd get used to it

What's a black speech student? :lol:Someone who is learning The Black Speech...
Black Speech is the language used to write the poem on the ring in Tolkien's lord of the rings. The phrase is "Ash nazg durbatuluk, ash nazg gimbatul, ash nazg thrakuluk agh burzum-ishi krimpatul". From this phrase and a few others in the books, as well as some words from his papers a number of people have put together a number of different dialects of Black Speech.
Black Speech is the language of Sauron, created during the second age of middle earth to teach to his servents so they could all communicate together. The orcs quickly changed it to fit with their orcish dialects while creatures like the Nazgul followed their masters wishes to the letter and are the only creatures left in Middle Earth that still know Black Speech the way Sauron created it, besides Sauron himself.
Does that help?

Well I've been learning it for over ten years and have been in the KLI for about 6 of those. I helped translate google into Klingon and have tried to help people learn the language. I also spent a day with Marc Okrand and got him drunk. Thats about my only claim to tlhIngan Hol fame.

I'm the guy that hosts everything to do with I-Sci-Fi. I send out the streams you all listen to, host the web site and the forums and general do anything that requires high level tech knowledge. I've been working in the background on the show since before it started. I helped create it and convinced Captain T'Rex that we could actually do it.
That aside I'm a Klingon speaker and a Black Speech student. If you need me to help out here I'll be glad too.

Ooops, can a mod delete that last post by me?

I only used words from lessons 1 and 2. It's a very simple sentance to translate. It's just long because it's got 'ej in it to join sentances together. Just break it down into 5 sections (break at each 'ej) and translate them. I didn't use any fancy grammer and I only used stuff from lessons 1 and 2. I included the translation for 'ej so you wouldn't have to look it up.
Give it a shot and when your finished you'll see how easy it was

The version of "Somewhere over the Rainbow" (or "bIQ'otlh wov DungDaq vegh 'oH") that Jim sings was translated by me.. he's been promising me a copy of it on CD for a while now.. I need to get back to him
You can see the lyrics at http://www.wizage.net:81/klingsongs/beta/ where I have a bunch of songs. Unfortunatly I don't have a good singing voice so I translate and someone else sings

I bought my first copy of the Klingon Dictionary when I was still living in England. I got it from a WHSmiths although I also saw copies at Blackwells. If they don't have one in stock, they will order it for you as well.

It seems they have shifted their focus towards just Enterprise. By cutting out these sections they have just reduced the number of hits by a few 1000. ParamountDaq qoHpu' chaH ghotpu'!

There is no word for cool in Klingon. You could say "jIbIr" but a Klingon would just tell you to stand by the fire. "Cool" is English slang and slang doesn't carry over well to other Earth bound cultures, let alone an alien culture.
