  1. As Bilbo Baggins would say,"The time I've spent amongst such excellent and admirable Trekkies has been far too brief.I know less than half of you half as well as I would like,..we'll,skip the rest (that Bilbo, very rude)

When I arrived,I announced it would be but a temporary visit. And now i regret to say this is the end.I must be going now.

    Goodbye.

  2. Sure, it could be written like that, but this is a very old episode in the universe of Trek.  It is unlikely that B & B would care to sue such an obscure reference. Personally, I would think that the Vorgons are the good guys in the TCW.  Secondly, they were from the 27th century.  The ppl who have contacted the Suliban are from the 29th.  This makes it somewhat less likely for it to be them.

Yeah,I'd forgotten that the Vorgon were from the 27th century.

Still,it makes sense for the TCW factions to have agents inhabiting many various times throughout history,so the link could still be there.Maybe.

  3. Son_worshiper WAS on topic, redshirt.Don't get bent out of shape because he disagrees with you.So do I.

Enterprise is not lacking in creativity. If anything, the shows have been getting better and better.I don't see your problem. Is it that you just don't like Enterprise? Then why post in the Enterprise forum?

Lately quite a few people have been showing signs of really short temper around here, and frankly I'm getting a little tired of it.If you can't post with a little civility, don't post.

  4. The Original Series had tons of great creatures.I personally liked them all,but was especially fond of the Gorn Commander in the episode "Arena".I also liked the creepy Denevan Neural Parasites.(shivers)I can still hear the sounds they make!

    Vote for your favorite.

  5. On Star Trek:The Next Generation and Star Trek:DS9 we see two obviously different humanoid species referred to as Talarians. This begs the question,is the Talarian homeworld populated by two sentient races...or did the producers of Star Trek:DS9 make a mistake by putting the wrong make-up effects on the Talarian who was written into the episode "Improbable Cause"?That Talarian looks somewhat reptilian, while the Talarian warrior from the TNG episode "Suddenly Human" looks almost human in appearance. What gives?

  6. The Prime Directive of Cultural Non-Interference was violated by the Federation in the episode "Code of Honor",when the USS Enterprise-D visited Ligon II.The Ligonians were a pre-warp civilization, and culturally quite unsophisticated (I gathered these impressions from the Star Trek Encyclopedia).

The visit to Ligon II was a necessesity as a vital vaccine was needed by the Federation, and the planet was the only source of the rare vaccine. But did that make it right to violate the PD?And,if the Prime Directive can be ignored on Ligon II,how many other primitive worlds has the Federation visited and "contaminated"(by their own standards).

  7. I am wondering what happened to the colonies within and along the demiliterized zone, after the Dominion War.Were they repatriated with the Federation? Were they granted independence?Did they remain within the sphere of influence of the post-war Cardassian government?

I know if I were a DMZ colonist,I wouldn't necessarily want to be associated with the Federation ever again.IMO,they were betrayed by the UFP once already.I also would not want to be under Cardassian rule. That leaves the option of independence, which sounds great,but...the alpha quadrant has a number of alien species that would love to swoop in and claim some form of dominion over the newly free colonies. It would be a hard decision.

    Thoughts,anyone?

  8. I was re-watching "Captain's Holiday" about an hour ago,and it struck me that the Vorlons could very well be involved in the TCW.They wanted the Tox Uthat very badly. Why?To use as a weapon of mass destruction in the TCW?They were from the future, afterall.I wonder if it is the Vorlons who are behind the Suliban enhancements,or maybe, they are but a single member race of some larger entity?

  9. Okay. You're a Starfleet officer on a Federation vessel in orbit around the Ferengi homeworld.Taking a much anticipated shore leave you find that all of the sightseeing you've done has worked up a powerful appetite. And you want to experience everything Ferenginar has to offer, including the food.Place your order!

Myself,I think I might try the chilled tube grubs.

  10. Why the flak about China having military intentions connected to their space program?SO DO WE!

Do you think the Chinese feel safe knowing our capabilities?I doubt it.I don't blame them for attempting to even the playing field.

China's leaders are not stupid. They know the implications of orbiting nukes, and they won't do it.They have, however, demonstrated that they are capable of it.And,it would appear, the west has taken notice, which may have been the sole intent and benefit of the launch in the first place.

As for SDI...oh,brother  as if that will EVER work! They've been trying to perfect Reagan's project for twenty-years now and are still no closer to initiating it than ever before. If SDI works half as well as our Patriot missiles from the Gulf War,we might get lucky and intercept about a sixteenth of the incoming birds.

China has a right to do what it is doing.

Well, my point was not to say that we don't or do have military attentions in space. That was never my point. When was it?..... My main point was that we should not allow brutal government to also have those capabilities. Your point does in any way intersect what I said at all - - - You did not address the issue. (You addressed it at a tangent.)

I don't see a point to elaborate the reasons why we should not allow a brutal and evil government to develop a more aggressive posture in its military because you don't even address my key points. (And I think this is pretty apparent for the reasons. Unless you like brutal governments or if you are a Commie or a "small 'c' commie")

Haven't you read Mr.Tinkles posts in Risa?He IS a communist...

where's McCarthy when you need him?

  11. The American mathematician edward Kasner once asked his 9-year old nephew to invent a name for an extremely large number...ten to the power of one-hundred(a one followed by a hundred zeroes). The boy called it a Googol.

Anybody can make up a nonsense term for a larger number,so they do all count,Captain Holland.

I'm not sure CJLP wins, though. That Infiniplex seems to be the infinity equivalent of a googolplex, making it infinity to the power of infinity.Yikes.

  12. A few years ago I made up a holiday called "Family Day".Its the day my family celebrates our being together, and our love for one another.I picked the date of February,3rd out of a hat. That's the day it falls on.We give each other little presents, have a Thanksgiving-type meal, and the kids get the day out of school,if it falls on a school day (which they love). We spend the whole day together, playing board games, watching movies,or go to the park or zoo or theater or seaquarium. Its a lot of fun.I'm sure when the kids are a bit older, they'll think its stupid and won't want to spend a whole day with one another or their folks, but for now, while there still little and adorable,it works.

Anybody else here have a homemade holiday they celebrate?

  13. The problem with homosexuals in Trek is that they "would" be very homosexual.  So far, every homosexual I've come across, has been completely obsessed with sex and talked about it more than anything else.  Not a judgement, just an observation.

As far as CJLP's comments refer to television homosexuals,I agree completely. They tend to be ubergay and sexually obsessed, which I doubt is the case with the majority of real gay and lesbian people. My sister likes to watch Spin City, and there is a gay black guy character on the show. The only thing he EVER talks about is what guy has a cute butt, and which guy he wants to sleep with or has slept with.Is there nothing more to the character? If you ask me characters like this are doing a diservice to gay and lesbians.
