  1. Thanks for the reply! I had used the search box in this forum but I got no results for this episode in particular.

Ah, I didn't say it for harm! It's just an opinion that I had about this episode's script. ;)

  3. I searched threads for the exchange of ideas on this episode and as I didn't found, I decided to open one!

Last Saturday I watched Arena for the 1st time - I was anxious because Gorn is a very famous antagonist - and despite I notice some inconsistencies in the script, I confess that I enjoyed very much! Especially the battle between Kirk and Gorn.

Gorn's appearance is very reminiscent of the monsters attacking Tokyo in Japanese live-action and (I'm not sure, but I believe) may have been deliberate.

The scenes with Kirk narrating what he saw on the planet and the problems he was facing not seem to have much sense... To whom he intended to leave these recordings? As I read in a review, perhaps the reason was to give the most suspenseful scenes, but if you look better, it doesn't even seem to have a purpose. What about you, what do you think of this episode?

  4. Fantastic!! Thank You Meiline. I assume you speak English because you write it so well. Am I correct?

You're welcome, I'm glad you enjoyed the interview!

Aww, thank you! But unfortunately I don't speak English fluently, I'm still learning! :)

  5. Well, I don't know if this is the proper forum to post this (if it isn't, I apologize) or if there's some other Brazilian member here on the forum. Probably some of you already have seen these videos, but if not, I thought that perhaps you might like it.

When Leonard Nimoy visited Brazil in 2003, he gave an interview to Jô Soares' Show, one talk show host very famous here. You can access the videos through the links below:

Thank you! That was fun. How did you get interested in Star Trek?

You're welcome! It's really fun to watch dubbed into other languages! :)

Well, my mom used to watch Star Trek when I was just a little girl. I vaguely remember watching a few episodes with her in the 90s. After they stopped showing the episodes in broadcast television, I just went back to watch the episodes years later on cable when I was a teenager. It was then that I really became a Star Trek fan and I kept this in my memory until to be able to buy the Brazilian edition DVD, many years later. I reviewed the episodes that I kept in my heart and memory, but most of the episodes were new to me, which made me very happy!

  7. Are the episodes in Portuguese? It would be so fun to watch one in a different language.

Yes, the episodes were dubbed by a studio in São Paulo in the 60s. Many people love this first dubbing, but some episodes were lost in a fire that was there at the end of the decade. Then, in the 90s, there was a new voice acting made by a studio in Rio de Janeiro, which was preserved and now released on DVD here in Brazil.

  8. In my opinion this is a very good and funny episode, but a little bit weak. The highlights for me was Dr. McCoy spying Yeoman Barrows, the participation of Bruce Mars as Finnegan and know a little more about Kirk's past.

  9. Hi!

I'm Meiline and I confess that I was very happy to find this forum! :)

I'm a big fan of the original series and felt the need to exchange ideas with other fans as well. I hope to become very active, sharing ideas and thoughts.

    See you soon!

  10. This episode is really good! It was really great to know a bit about the past of Dr. McCoy. Another interesting fact is the intelligence and survival instinct of the creature, as well as it's real appearance.
