    The gist of it:

Star Trek: Phase II is an award-winning* internet series of new episodes of the orginal Star Trek, featuring the contributions of producers, writers, directors, and actors from that very same original Star Trek series and others in the Star Trek franchise.

The show that set the standards is going to set another. Three episodes. One film shoot. The goal: release them all in 2013.

More adventures with Captain Kirk in one year than have been seen since 1969!

And we need your help...$6000 to make the November 2012 shoot a success and get all three episodes "in the can"!

$6000 in 21 days - and this is what you'll get in return...

"Kitumba"- the long-awaited adventure into the very heart of the Klingon empire originally proposed by John Meredyth Lucas for Paramount's "Phase II" series. Written by Patty Wright from Lucas' drafts, the episode stars James Cawley in his last full-length episode appearance with breath-taking special effects by Tobias Richter of The Light Works.

"Origins: The Protracted Man" - finally, the special effects wizards at The Light Works are able to realize the story first proposed by David Gerrold back in 1967. Adapted by Gerrold for Phase II, directed by Gerrold with rising guest star Matthew Ewald ("Galidor"), a tragedy forces Kirk to look back at questionable choices he made as a cadet and his first encounters with the Enterprise, Captain Pike, and Spock.

"Bread and Savagery" - there's a new Kirk in town, and things will never be the same! Network television star Brian J. Gross takes the Enterprise back to Magna Roma and a sinister surprise in an original tale penned by Rick Chambers.

Begun as a childhood dream of Senior Executive Producer James Cawley, Phase II has become the realization of every fan's dream - volunteers coming from around the world on their own dime to make Star Trek for no profit but the joy of it. Every cent you contribute goes directly to fund the cost of finishing the episodes.

Fans who contribute to Star Trek: Phase II's Indigogo campaign are eligible to receive exclusive rewards in exchange for individual pledges ranging from $25 to $5,000.

How do we do this for so little money?

Because every one of our production members is not only a volunteer, but a contributor to the legacy they love. From industry pros coming from around the world to housewives coming from around the corner, everyone works long hours in the heat, provides much of the materials and tools they need to work with, and treats the sets and studio equipment as if they paid for it themselves - because they did.

    So why this appeal?

NASA will not fund our trips to strange new worlds...or old ones either. It's a pity, but it's the truth. Traveling to both Magna Roma and the Klingon homeworld (Q'nos) involves expenses that are above and beyond our normal contributions...and the stop at Starfleet Academy is a killer one!

Any funds collected beyond the $6,000 goal will go directly to making more and better Star Trek episodes...and could bring fans glimpses of never-seen-before sets filmed with new equipment!

    Where we came from:

Spearheaded by Executive Producer James Cawley, the series is filmed in upstate New York on museum-quality duplicates of the original sets with authentic costumes and props.

Begun as a childhood dream, the project became a passion fueled by James’ work as a costumer under William Ware Theiss on Star Trek: The Next Generation. James’ dedication to detail, boundless energy, and deep respect for TOS has attracted hundreds of fans and industry professionals from around the world to contribute their talents to the non-profit production, including Star Trek alumni Walter Koenig, George Takei, Grace Lee Whitney, Denise Crosby, D.C. Fontana, David Gerrold, Jon Povill, Norman Spinrad, George Clayton Johnson, Majel Barrett Roddenberry and Eugene Roddenberry Jr. Originally named Star Trek: New Voyages, the pilot and nine episodes filmed now incorporate many of the changes planned for the aborted Paramount 1970’s Phase II series in order to track the transition from TOS to TMP.

Now starring Brian J. Gross as Captain James Kirk, Star Trek: Phase II’s numerous awards include the 2007 On-Line TV Guide Award for Best SciFi Webseries, 2008 Golden Icon Awards for both best Webseries and best actor (Cawley), and both a Hugo and Nebula nomination. Paramount/CBS, who own the licenses to Star Trek, have borrowed costumes, props and set pieces for the production of Enterprise; and the freighter Ticonderoga in that series was a nod to Cawley's hometown. The goal of Star Trek: Phase II is to support and promote Paramount's Star Trek franchise by giving fans and active way to continue their interest in Star Trek: The Original Series.

"A remarkable encapsulation of the original series with such truth and dedication to the ideals of the ST universe, but with a freshness that the series so deserved. And now the 1701.5 - predecessor to "A" -- all around Brilliant!"

  2. Andrew Koenig, the son of Star Trek actor Walter Koenig, is missing. The last time Andrew Koenig was seen was on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2010, in Vancouver, British Columbia. Andrew Koenig never boarded his flight back to the US, and he hasn't heard from since then.

Andrew Koenig, 41, was working as a camera operator on the show "Never Not Funny" as well as doing improv in Los Angeles. Best known as "Boner" from "Growing Pains", Andrew is a talented actor director, editor and photographer as well as a passionate activist. In 2008, he was arrested at the Rose Bowl protest. He was protesting on behalf of the country of Burma.

This is a serious matter that has Koenig's friends and family gravely concerned. If you have seen him, emailed him or had any contact after the 14th or spent time with him during his stay in Vancouver please call Detective Raymond Payette of the Vancouver PD at 604-717-2534.

Please share this and send prayers and positive thoughts. If you wish to leave Walter a note, visit his site at: www.walterkoenigsite.com

  3. Wow... old thread. Since the last post we've filmed FIVE new episodes. Blood and Fire, part one; Blood and Fire, part two; Enemy: Starfleet; The Child; and Kitumba.

BAF: 1 went live on 12/20/08. The other four will all be available by next summer!

  4. Walter Koenig will be appearing at a first time convention at Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, NH on April 26. This con, run by the Science Fiction Club at the college, is a chance to experience cons the way they used to be...before they became big business. Hang out with Walter and other fans, and see his new movie "InAlienable".

For directions check out their website: www.uni-con.org/index.html

  5. Its a shame that Koenig did the NewVoyages episode and apparently killed the character off. It was the first NewVoyages episode that I would consider a "Season Three Clunker".

Chekov died in To Serve All My Days just the same as all our main crew ever died. :dude: Chekov is back and very alive in the next episode. James Cawley says the explanation for it will "make fans smile."

And he's very much alive in "Of God's and Men" from Sky Douglas Conway and Tim Russ to be released on 4/15/07.

  6. Really Gummy? I don't recall he received financial gain for appearing in New Voyages, (Jorel could verify...) I remember thinking how cool of him it was to put the saga ahead of financial gain. Something all the "bigwigs" (Shat, Nimoy, Stewart) never seemed willing to do.

No one involved in New Voyages recieves any kind of payment. They have to pay their own airfare, lodging and meals too. That includes Mr. Koenig and Mr. Takei.

As for making money from a fan club.... Walter gives way too much of his time to charities to make that comment even worth responding too.

  7. Interesting. But only if they're a non-profit type of organization, right? Wouldn't they have to be in order to accept donations?

They CAN NOT take monetary donations as accepting money of any kind violates their agreement with CBS/Paramount--which outlines their use of the Star Trek francise in an amateur not-for-profit production. They do take gift cards from Home Depot and like places, as well as donations of items for the sets and filming. They have a wish list on their site. They don't send out dvd copies except as acknowlegement to people who donate. Distrubution of dvds violates their agreement. They also can not charge people to see their films at conventions or other venues.

The first episode, In Harm's Way is available from their mirror sites in dvd file format. TSAMD is not yet, and they have promised a special edition, with vintage commercials and a surprise, when they release the dvd formatted files. They prefer you wait for the official dvd version to be released on their site before making a dvd.

However, if you can't wait you can visit their forums there are many good discussions on how to convert the files to a format which will burn on a dvd. Then you miss out on the special edition with the surprise!

  8. Star Trek is front and center at Grauman's Chinese Theatre! Here’s a view of ‘our’ block:

    www.seeing-stars.com:80/Images/Slides/ChineseTheatreFootprints-StarTrek.JPG

And an odd note of trivia: Walter Koenig is the only person to have their signature and handprints immortialized at the theatre and not have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

  9. Do you only know Walter Koenig as Pavel Chekov and Alfred Bester? He created over fifty other television roles and, for your pleasure, we’ve put up clips of 16 of them on YouTube!

Did you ever wonder if Walter could do a REAL Russian accent, not the corny Star Trek one? Check out his first Russian role, the one that earned him his Chekov audition:

See his stint as a student activist before activism became routine on our campuses.

Yes, Walter was even on Gidget. The Gidget with Sally Field, where he played a stick in the mud Swedish businessman.

Or visit Walter’s official website to see all 16 clips! http://www.walterkoenigsite.com/

  10. I'm also from Russia,

Hi there! Where are you from originally? I going there for a visit in April.

I live in an area of very high immigration from the Russian Federation and former Soviet Union countries and I've yet to hear anyone speak even remotely like Walter's put-upon accent. Did you catch the New Voyages episode "To Serve All My Days"? Walter was finally able to do the accent the way he wanted to and coached Andy Bray--who plays the young Chekov--in the accent. Finally, a Chekov at the helm whose accent doesn't grate against your nerves.

Chekov would have been taken more seriously if the accent wasn't so distracting. But we have to view it through the glasses of the sixties. Americans were still afraid of Russians on a pure basis of ignorant biotry. Star Trek may have been groundbreaking, but it was still a reflection of the times. We still have incidents where Star Fleet officers are heard to declare "Captain, I'm so frightened!" and an entire episode based on the fact that women genetically don't have what it takes to captain a starship.

Then again, if it weren't for Chekov I wouldn't be teaching Russian history and culture now.

  11. Aww, poor guy. He deserves a star...he always was my favorite, even tho his Russian accent was terrible.

Blame Gene Roddenberry: he wanted Walter to 'ham it up'. He had his reasons...think about it: it was the middle of the Cold War and the Space Race against the Russians.

Walter's brother used to kid him about the accent all the time. He's obviously able to do a correct one: both his parent's were born in Russia!

  12. Actually, Walter is the only one of 'the fab four' who didn't completely trash Bill in his autobiography. He acknowledged the problems but said something like: "He had to carry the show and no one ever told him he was being an *buttocks*, so we only have ourselves to blame."

And the people at Shatner.com and the Shatner forum are being very supportive and helping out. They are even planning a surprise marketing technique for the letter-writing campaign.

In truth, I suspect that Walter thinks it's an underground MacCarthyism plot leftover from the blacklist days... (Before you ask, no he's not a communist, but has close relatives that are.)

  13. Looking back at my notes from the 2006 Las Vegas Star Trek convention, the comment was made by George Takei and Nichelle Nichols that the former Chairman of the Walk of Fame committee has stated that there are already too many Star Trek actors with stars on the Walk of Fame, and is actively opposing giving Walter a star.

In fairness to Johnny Grant, (the chairman of the WOF committee) he did reply to a fan's email last fall that he "has always supported Walter Koenig to be granted a star" and "has always voted for him whenever he was nominated." (The email from Mr. Grant was posted in several groups.)

There's no telling if he was back-peddling to cover his.... we'll never know: the WOF committee meetings are closed. We can't verify Walter was ever nominated before, although the money has been raised on several different occassions. (And it's the only committee which the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce won't release the names of the members.) But we KNOW Walter was nominated for this June's vote. (I can guarantee it personally!) If they get enough letters I think it can only embarrass Mr. Grant into putting his vote where his mouth is.

But the letters MUST be polite! If fans piss off the committee members by being rude or trying to threaten them into doing the right thing, it'll only make them vote against Walter just to 'teach everyone a lesson'.

Maybe we should mention Walter's the last of the TOS cast that will be getting a star... it's not like there's going to be an onslaught of further nominations. True, "Leslie" was in 59 episodes...but I don't forsee fans raising the money to put his star on the WOF!

  14. Did you know Walter Koenig is the only one of the original "Star Trek Seven" not to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame? It's time for the fans to unite and help correct this ridiculous oversight!

Walter's been nominated for a star and the Walk of Fame Committee will be voting in June 2007 on whether to award it to him. A letter-writing campaign to convince the committee to vote for him has started, and you can help!

Walter's official website -- www.WalterKoenigSite.com -- has all the information. Here is the link to the "Star" page: www.walterkoenigsit e.com/waltersstar.html

Thank you for your help and support!

We have new banners and links for this campaign as waltersstar has raised all the money!

Have you written your letter to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce yet? Great!

Now we have a mission for you! Get 10 of your friends to write a letter too! (Have each of them get 10 of their friends...) This is how we got Trek renewed in the 60's!

The campaign has spread to Europe, but we need it spread everywhere... it's going to take thousands of letters! (The chamber is really stubborn!) Please spread the post to a few other forums if you belong to them.

And now we have flyers on the website! You can print them to post at the supermarket and work, leave in your doctor's waiting room...there are Trek fans everywhere! There are also versions to cut apart and bring to conventions.

We'll even mail them to you if you are going to a con--just let us know!!!
