  1. I had the urge to roll my eyes and laugh whenever Janeway pulled out those action hero quotes. The two I remember most vividly are

"Time's up" before she rams Voyager into the Krenim time ship of Year of Hell II and

"Time to take out the garbage" before blowing up the Malon from Night.

  2. 1. I have no problems with the ship being called Enterprise, though I also have no problems with a name change.

    2. While there probably is the issue of franchise recognition, I don't see why they had to go with weapons that look so much like their later counterparts. It just seems like the writers have no imagination when they make phase pistols, phase cannons, and these new photonic torpedoes. I quite liked the weapons the Enterprise had in broken bow... couldn't they have simply increased the yield on those weapons as opposed to giving out phase cannons? Perhaps name brand recognition is far more powerful than I think, and by having phase cannone and pistols, people know they're watching Star Trek?

    3. I'm not exactly sure when Starfleet was created, but I really don't have problems with them using the term Starfleet.

    4. This issue really has no great effect on myself.

    5. I like the idea of nuclear/fusion weapons, but I'm sure that by Archer's time they would've been able to manufacture relatively 'clean' nuclear and fusion weapons and negate most of the harmful radiation. However, it is established that antimatter has been a phenomenon that is long studied by humans (Voyager's Friendship One probe carried such knowledge in the late 21st century) and it's not inconceivable that they have antimatter weapons. However, it would've been nice if they didn't copy the photon torpedo almost to the letter.

In conclusion, while I have a few niggles with terminology and look, I'm more concerned with the writing and the emotional overtones of the Vulcans. I mean, if they met the Klingons, surely Humans can't be that much less tolerable.

  3. I personally didn't feed much of a bond between Harry and Libby in Non Sequitor. In a galaxy of strange phenomena, I thought she was too quick to pile so much suspicion on him (and even called Starfleet), even if he was acting very strangely. At least she helped him escape in the end.

  4. While I have no problems with using the borg again, I sorta wish they didn't use time travel. Maybe a glimpse into a possible future (Voyager and the 23 year journey) they wanted to avoid would be good, but I thought Janeway was far too insane (even for her) to go back and destroy the potential bond of the Voyager family (not that 7 years is a short time for a crew to bond in the middle of nowhere) to save three of her close crewmates.

  5. If I recall correctly, in only two situations did Voyager actually kick full-powered Borg butt. The first incident was against the tiny probe ship and the second one was when Voyager was refitted with futuristic Transphasic torpedoes and Ablative armour. In the other incidents Voyager used less direct methods of evading/defeating the collective.

Don't forget that in TNG, that first episode with Hugh, the Admiral suggested implanting an algorithm in Hugh that would disrupt the entire collective. That would've dealt an even bigger blow than blowing up some puny transwarp hub. Of course, eventually the sharing of Hugh's individuality only wreaked havoc on that one cube, as opposed to affecting the entire borg collective.
