  1. Hey, I've got a question that's really two questions: Didn't Julian get injured in this episode and also, didn't he get injured in the episode where Kira was kidnaped by the Circle? It seems odd to me that neither of these injuries is ever followed up upon unless they're being edited out in the TV reruns to make room for more commercials. I would've really liked to see Kira's reaction to Julian, whom she practically detested at this point in the series, being injured saving her. How would (did?) that have affected her relationship with Julian? Plus, not really realizing Julian had been injured in this battle at AR-558, I had thought he transported up to the rescuing ship to see after Nog and the other wounded. Is there more to all the episodes that I've been missing because I can't afford the Disc sets? Is my viewing experience of DS9 being (horror of horrors!) ABRIDGED??? Someone please let me know before the nightmares become to much for me to take anymore! Love to all, Siddigfan

  2. I knew that Buster, Nana's older son, was by a previous marriage, but Sid always referred to both boys as "my two boys" in interviews, so I felt that he felt that he was the dad to both of them and I always thought that that was so sweet. He seems like a real nice guy and yes, he is gorgeous! Having been through a divorce myself though, I know that two people can part friends, really still care about each other very much, remain really nice people (at least I hope we are), and still just not be able to live in the same house with each other (sigh!). I like both Sid and Nana very much, as far as one can know them from their careers and such, and I wish only happiness for both of them, and for the boys, too. I think, when I first heard this rumor, that I was filled with wishful thinking as all fans, to some degree, probably live a bit vicariously through their favorite stars; I would have thought it was such a romantic reunion and would sure like somebody's life to have a happy ending! Since my source was so reliable in the past for me, I had my hopes up on this one! Love to all, Siddigfan

  3. According to Takara Soong, the rumor is false, but I was hoping, for the sake of the two boys, that it might be true. Hopefully, everyone is happy with their lives as they are, (but it did sound romantic and would have made a great plot for a story!) Any other info. would still be appreciated. I'd like to track down how this rumor got started as I got it from contacts in the theater industry and you know how much gossip there is there. I'm curious to track it down. It'll probably be about as easy as capturing Bigfoot! Love to all, Siddigfan

  4. Dear Seatrooper--you are a doll! Thanks so much for making me feel okay about my mistake! And dear Gul Nodrog (Nodroq?)-- I agree! Isn't Sid so hot in a beard?? I started a new topic about Sid and Nana and I asked there wouldn't it be so awesome to see an older and wiser Dr. Bashir (with the beard!) in a DS9 movie? Is it absolutely impossible with all that's happening (see the topic about bad news for Star Trek) that we will ever get to see a DS9 Movie (sob! :dontgetit: say it isn't so!) Put our gang on the big screen please!!!Love to all (This site has opened up a whole new world for me where I can talk to friends about what I'm really excited about. That means an awful lot to me. Thanks for being here! Siddigfan

  5. I have heard several rumors that Alexander Siddig and Nana Visitor may be reuniting. Can anyone verify this from a reliable source? I also wondered what , if any, effect this would have on the chances for a DS9 movie. Would Sid be afraid to be identified with Bashir again after he's been in some high-class movies ? Wouldn't an older and wiser Dr. Bashir (with a beard!) be awesome? Just interested in your thoughts on this?

  6. Yes, but she, (meaning I), evidently didn't edit it in the correct manner ( not knowing what she is doing yet, sigh! ) I just wanted to add to my previous post that , after reading the answers in that other topic I mentioned, I found out the fellow was talking about "Alexander" the movie sucking, not Alexanader Siddig sucking. What a relief. So, apologies to all! But I'd still love feedback on that stuff I wrote about Sid's acting in that other topic I mentioned above. Thanks to all for your patience whilst I am learning how to navigate and express myself on the computer! Love to all, Siddigfan :(

  7. :blush :blush 2: A hundred-million apologies!!!!! I thought you were referring to "Alexander" Siddig. My little obsessive nerves went berserk as I have, like, the galaxy's biggest crush!! :( Plus, I am new at this Internet stuff. (At 45, I'm just learning and could use a lot of advice--Head injuries and disabilities have kept me from keeping up with my peers in the computer respect but I'm trying to catch up!) Je suis si desolee ( I'm trashing myself!) Thank you so much for your understanding and for explaining what "Alexander "you were discussing. So---what DO you think of Sid's acting in DS9? I'm hypercurious, now.

    Love to all, Siddigfan

  8. My vote goes to Julian Bashir :( Not only is he gorgeous at the beginning of the series, but he's even more gorgeous at the end of the series, and that sexy British accent! (Same reason I always loved Simon MacCorkindale--am I the only person in the U.S. who watched Simon and Christopher Plummer in the series Counterstrike?) Anyway, Siddig just turned 40 and he's even (deep sigh) more gorgeous, if such a thing is humanly possible, (see him at work in Kingdom of Heaven and Syriana). (Yes, I'll admit it now, I'm obsessed---you couldn't tell? :blush 2: ) As I run my little cash register at work, it's nice to know I can live my life vicariously through the wonders of the entertainment industry ^_^ Dreaming my life away and pretending I am being given a tour of DS9 by Dr. Bashir helps to drive away the 'grinchy Christmas customer ' blues (As long as I don't get too distracted to make change! ) Love to all, Siddigfan (the name says it all, doesn't it?)

  9. Hey Sid Fans---Please refer to the topic in this DS9 forum about Sid giving credit to DS9 for making him a friendly face, etc. I've got some comments there on Sid's DS9 acting upon which I'd really like some feedback. ( Is it "legal" to cross -reference topics like this? I'm new at this Internet stuff.) Thanks. Plus I'd like a little backup for my opinion that SiD did not "suck". I thought he did great! Love to all, Siddigfan :(

  10. Star Trek helps everyone except those who oppose it. Alexander sucked, everyone knows it, and Oliver Stone is a loser. Look at all the people who love that fact that they were on Trek and how popular they are.

:( No Way did Sid "suck" ever! When the series first started, I was expecting the whole thing to suck, having been a Trek watcher since the sixties. But Bashir was the character that kept me glued to the screen and kept me coming back for more. His was a character with potential for growth--- who saw the whole thing as the adventure the audience wanted to believe it was. He was almost in the same seat as the viewer---you could personally experience all the adventure through Bashir's character. And as he passed through adventure after adventure, the whole character of Bashir matured---It was more realistic that way. I go back and watch the first episodes of DS9 and, yes, I wince a little---but never for Sid's acting. Rather, I wince for the very believable naivete and innocence and total "cluelessness" that Sid so believably instilled into Julian, the very qualities that made Julian so lovable to so many of Sid's fans and, yes, so loathed by some viewers during the first season of the show as Sid himself has said. I could feel Julian's confusion and embarrassment as the rookie on the station as if I were that character! That's good acting, not bad acting. To help the viewer to identify with the character and to feel what he/she feels (sometimes even against the viewer's will!)--that's the whole point of acting---to draw the viewer inside the story itself till they feel the real world drop away and begin to feel they are truly present where the action is. Of course, this is only my opinion, but, I believe it is a well-informed opinion as I've been involved with the theatre for most of my life. I absolutely respect everybody else's opinions even when I don't agree. I realize they may be seeing or feeling something I'm not picking up in my viewing experience. Love to all, Siddigfan

  11. i thought it was a great idea

and i especially liked those wonderful characters that came from this

I agree whole-heartedly! I only recently found out, at age 45, that, on top of the epilepsy incurred from an accident at age 17, that I have also been beating my head against the wall of two learning disabilities that, when I was a girl, they couldn't have diagnosed. I've spent my whole life feeling stupid, bad, flawed and lazy and constantly called so by others, suffering ruined relationships, etc. and never being able to accomplish the potential of an actually pretty decent IQ and tons of creativity. I never had a chance! But, with the help of all the medical profession has learned in the past two decades about the brain and about neurobiological disorders, new medications, and a counselor who won't let me se myself as a victim but as a conqueror of these disabilities, my life has finally bloomed into something beautiful. I'm going back to college and I hope that I can help other people with what's left of my time in this universe. I would've given much to have had some miracle genetic enhancement when I was young! Yes, I've learned a lot from battling these disabilities, but have also endured horrible depression and self-pity that benefitted no one. I wish I could've used that time to do more good and creative things with my life! Perhaps, in Heaven, God will explain the necessity of this struggle, but I can honestly say that I would've given my child genetic enhancements if I saw them struggling as I did. Love to all, Siddigfan

  12. Re: Sid in Kingdom of Heaven: I finally got to see it on DVD (which I bought solely because of Sid-- ( I could care less about any of the other actors in there -they're good but they're just not as good-looking as Sid--in my humble opinion). His role was not lengthy but I felt it was very important to understanding the character of Saladin---Sid's character, Imad, having been mentored by Saladin. As Imad says when Saladin questions him about the wisdom of having allowed Balian to live,"Perhaps I should have had a better teacher." Imad's mercy was instilled in him by his teacher, Saladin. (Whether or not this is reflective of the character of the actual and historical Saladin, I've no idea). This idea of mercy is the pivotal message of the whole movie, as Imad points out later to Balian, "You reap what you sow." So, although not long on actual footage, the character portrayed by Siddig, and his gentle humor in portraying him are necessary to the movie's overall message. The added benefit of seeing gorgeous, sexy Siddig dressed in Arabic robes riding a beautiful horse and then, later, dressed in chain mail only added to MY total viewing experience--YUM! He's looking PRETTY DANG GOOD at 40 (Says this 45-yr-old female fan!) Now, how can I get to see A Dangerous Man and the Sid episode of Spooks? Are they on VHS or DVD somewhere?

  13. Dang!!! You can't know how much I've missed this site! My computer's been down and I've suffered serious Internet Withdrawal. Happy 40th Birthday to Alexander Siddig!!! Read a fanfic recently where the author suggested for her story that Subatoi may be Julian's mother's maiden name. Still looking for new answers on this one as it involves a story I'd like to write. In one DS9 Episode I recall that Julian wondered if Lt. Whatley (spelling?) on Kirk's Enterprise, could be his great-grandmother and that he might be in a paradox because no one knew who his great-grandfather really was and he could be his own grandfather if he 'scored' with Lt. Whatley (he didn't as far as anyone knows--too busy hunting for tribble bombs!) THAT's not MY story but it may open up interesting avenues for others to pursue. Anyway, thanks for any and all help I can get on this one. Love, Siddigfan

  14. I'm really curious as to why 'Subatoi' was chosen for Julian's middle name. What language is it (Sudanese?) and what does it mean? What is it supposed to signify (is it an ancestral name of the Bashir family)? Who chose this name for the character and why? Any facts or musings out there would be welcome.

    Many Thanks!

  15. As a lifelong Trek Fan who has read just about every Trek novel as well, (I saw TOS in it's original airing), I think it's uncanny just how much this episode reminds me of the TOS "Journey to Babel" . Spock's hidden life and the estrangement from his parents, the angst of feeling like a 'freak' who doesn't fit in and who has to hide his real feelings --all this is so like Julian Bashir. I would like to know if anyone else has noticed this and to read their comments about this. I think it would be so awesome if someone were to write a novel, (or even a fan-fic, as long as they tell me where to find it), about a relationship being formed by Ambassador Spock and Dr. Bashir, (Not slash,PLEASE, a serious study!), where perhaps they must combine their talents to solve a problem and end up learning from each other's experiences.
