I discovered Star Trek when there was a marathon of TNG on TNN.  The first episode I ever saw was "The Best of Both Worlds, Part2".  I started watching Star Trek because there was too much news coverage on every other channel.  It was shortly after September 11, 2001.

It's very interesting that you found Trek when you did. Did you find the message of Star Trek to be comforting while dealing with the events of September 11? For me, I found great comfort in the hope.

 

As for becoming a faithful Trekkie, I don't know if I can put a finger on when it happened exactly. One minute I'm sitting there watching a great episode, the next I realize that my day is ruined if I miss the next, and then all of a sudden :( I'm a Trekkie!!

I only recently discovered DS9 on VHS at my local public library. So far my favorite characters are (in no particular order):

1. Odo.

2. Garak.

3. Jadzia.

4. Bashir.

5. Quark.

6. Gul Dukat.

Of the three, probably McCoy.

My screen name is from a character in the New Mutants comic book. It was published in the '80's. The character was only in 2 or 3 issues, but she is one of my favorites.

Garak is also one of my favorite characters.

Garak is my favorite Cardassian.
