  1. It's a lot trickier thinking of your favourites of all time - as opposed to favourites at the moment - I restricted myself to only one song per band otherwise it would have been dominated by Soundgarden.

In no particular order mine are:

    Overfloating by Soundgarden

    Mission by Chris Cornell

    Opiate by Tool

    Plush by Stone Temple Pilots

Love Will Tear Us Apart by Joy Division

I Am the Resurrection by The Stone Roses

    Swamp Thing by The Chameleons

    Shake by Otis Redding

    We by Brad

Battle for Evermore by Led Zepplin

boy, that was tough - i may need a lie down now

Hey! This spell checker checks in American - that's no use!

  2. English and Irish mostly - bit of Scottish in there somewhere back there but I still haven't gotten round to investigating my family tree.

My grandad's great uncle was renowned scientist John Dalton and apparently one of my grandmother's ancestors was a survivor of the charge of the light brigade. can't say either trait has bred true!

I myself consider myself Mancunian above anything else :(

  3. And thank you again. Just had a mooch round the Klingon Language Institute. Looks really promising - think i'll join the email discussion group later and see if I can find someone up for the challenge. Apparently they have people on there who conduct their dicussion on the board entirely in Klingon so they must be experts.

Thanks for the suggestion - this looks like a good lead

  4. w00t! I just totally messed some one up. When they caled me "a big fat loser", i responded "people who are insecure often make fun of other people to make themselves feel bigger", then she called me a liar, in which case i went on about how she was "special" and that she didnt have any real purpose in society. and how everything she held dear was not real. In which case, she said "wtf, you idiot" or something and blocked me! w00t, i love messing with people!

"a big fat loser" eh? With that kind of Oscar Wilde level wit she must have been head of a debate team :newyear:

    111 days to Serenity :congrats:

  5. Well, right now I have a boring desk job - answering phones and entering information into a computer.  But I had always wanted to become an actress, I have taken a class for it and loved every moment of it... I don't usually tell people about this because they laugh at me.  :yahoo:

People laugh at you? That's just mean. I'm sure you're well aware how difficult it is to break into acting but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try, it just means you need to be prepared for some hardwork and some setbacks. Yes statistically the odds aren't high that you'll become a movie megastar - but many people defy the odds every day. Plus there is a lot of acting that isn't movie megastardom but is still really rewarding and it sounds like you want to do it for love of the craft rather than stardom.

I wish you the very best of luck. And if people laugh at you just feel sorry for them that they can't see the potential for someone to fulfil their dreams - they must have very little spirit.

  6. Grunge, indie, alternative, hard rock, glam rock, funk rock, metal, rap/metal crossovers, old skool hip hop, mowtown, atlantic soul, late 20's/early 30's jazz, rave (of the more tuneful kind rather than hardcore), soundtracks, funny high-sprited pop, the dark side of the 80s (Joy Division, sisters of Mercy etc) and whatever bracket you put Tori Amos in.

My favourite depends on my mood so I couldn't pick an overall favourite genre - unless you include a category call 'music involving Chris Cornell' :yahoo:

  7. Hey

didn't catch the list with the not being American but i'd be interested to hear where Martin Luther King Jr (personal hero) placed?

A good point made about native Americans earlier in the thread I thought

I don't think I'd say Michael Moore was great in the sense that I don't believe he does a great deal for investigative journalism. But I think there is a value to his work in that it raises important questions about political subjects in an easily accessible 'pop-culture' way. If that then inspires people to dig deeper and ask the questions that need to be asked (instead of the most popular question of the day being what really went on between Brad and Angelina!) then I think it's of value. We could all hope he was a proper investigative journalist but then he wouldn't get any airtime at all (see Greg Palast)!

No not a great American but better than Tom Cruise :yahoo:

  8. To leave the world a better place that I found it and to have contributed to that in some small way.

I'm hoping that by the end of my life I'll have worked out what the heck was going on :yahoo:

Oh and obviously to be windswept and interesting, speak 5 languages, have travelled the world and spent at least a year living in another country (i'm aiming for New Zealand), written a novel and got over my fear of swimming.

  9. Hello all

I'm planning my next tattoo and I want to get something translated into either Vulcan or Klingon text (can't decide which would be more appropriate for the text but that's another story - I've put the same post on the Vulcan Embassy).

Is anyone aware of anyone who could accurately translate English to Klingon for a modest fee (or preferably just for the joy of it :yahoo: )

If i get it sorted i'll post a pic of the tatt when it's done

    much obliged
