1. 9.5. It wasn't perfect but it was really good.

I thoroughly enjoyed Terra Prime and was touched when baby Elizabeth died. Loved the hand holding by Trip and T'Pol at the end. :tear:

... which is why "These are the voyages..." was a huge drop in quality from the Reeves-Stevens "Terra Prime" to the finale. UGH. :tear:

  2. I'm ticked and I'm here to vent, I gave it a 1, that said the rest will be spoilerish if you haven't seen the show yet...

    My gripes:

    1. I think I must have tuned into the wrong show because I saw an episode of TNG instead of ENT. What!? Really, I don't give a flying Denebian slime devil about Riker's moral dilemma about a cloaking device on the Pegasus. Who cares? And was it a shock that he came to the "right" conclusion about what to do? No. So what was the point? I also thought the "computer freeze..." stuff got old really fast. It was intrusive and annoying.

    2. Why did Berman/Braga do this episode? Anyone else could have done a better job. Did they want to stick the final fork in Trek for spite? The Reeves-Stevens episode "Terra Prime" would have been a more welcome series finale IMHO.

    3. They killed my Trip! FOR NO REASON. Trip's death felt so empty to me. Archer and T'Pol were the only ones to have a reaction and it wasn't even allowed to be heartfelt. "Ah, poor Trip. What's next on the docket for today?" Reed, Meriweather, Hoshi... evidently didn't give a damn about Trip. They were their normally happy selves at the "speech." Also, I am still doing a double-take over HOW Trip died. Can someone explain it to me so that it makes sense? LOL I paid attention but it just doesn't. Shran fakes his death, but isn't dead. His daughter's been kidnapped by his "associates" who want a giant Amethyst (wha?) they think Shran has. This is all set up for a double-cross and later the "associates" attack Enterprise and demand to be taken to Shran. Archer & Trip fight and Trip indicates to the "associates" to knock Archer out. They do. Trip promises to take them to Shran, which is odd since he was very willing to toss over Shran. And where were the MAKO's? No one tries to help? Trip then does the strangest things I've ever seen him do. He acts all jittery and leads them to a "communications port" which obviously isn't one... why the "associates" can't figure out why Trip is ripping apart power cables instead of hitting a communicator to talk to Shran is beside me. He then plugs one plug into another and and explosion occurs, killing the "associates" and mortally wounding Trip. The doctor can't help much, Trip asks if they'll make the signing of the charter/speech, is told yes, then they put him in a tube and as he goes in he winks at Archer, and dies. HUH? Was this written on drugs? Speed? This makes about as much sense as my college papers written at 3am the night before while hopped up on Jolt Cola and no doze... I take that back, my babblings made more sense. It's like they went... we need to kill Trip, but we've run out of time, let's just throw this together and stick it in. No one is watching anyway. And that's the same STUPID attitude that ran ENT into the ground. They should be ashamed of themselves!

    4. This wasn't a fitting ending to ST: ENT, let alone STAR TREK the franchise! I'm with Blalok and Billingsley... this was appalling and disrespectful. This should have been about the ENT crew, not TNG.

    5. WE DID NOT GET TO HEAR ARCHER'S SPEECH!!!!!! What a slap in the face to the ENT cast and their fans. Looks like B&B didn't think they could "carry" a finale on their own.

    6. Riker as the Chef was ridiculous. It seemed forced to have everyone go unload on him because we have NEVER seen them do this with anyone before. Ridiculous.

    7. And I'm also pissed that if they do Movie #11... it will have NO ONE we know in it. So, why would we want to see it? I'm fed up with B&B so much I can't even think straight. So disappointing and disrespectful. The only thing I enjoyed was the voiceover with the 3 Enterprise captains (Kirk, Picard, Archer) at the end. But that in no way made up for what I watched between 9-10pm. UGH! :tear:

  3. VBG is the only one who can add them and he just recently suffered a death in the family. They'll all be up soon.

    287107

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. Obviously, ignore my banner statement. It'll get up there when it gets up there. Not important.

  4. :naughty: Loved it. This was a wonderful 3 part series and everyone associated with it should get a big old pat on the back - or a nod and Vulcan salute for those less demonstrative. LOL

I loved the ending, I was saying that from the first season of ENT that something like that had to be going on. Lordie how the Vulcans annoyed the crap out of me.

I have the same complaint as everyone else:

    Click For Spoiler

Archer taking out 3 Vulcans with one torch and a lirpa. Not bloody likely. LOL And once again he was the one that was pulling T'Pau along. I can see the Katra giving him a little extra boost, but no way should he be as strong as ANY Vulcan.

Also, got a fit of the giggles when T'Pau tossed Archer's butt down the hidey hole. The styrofoam stalactites breaking off as they slid down the tunnel reminded me of all the TOS episodes with styrofoam rocks.

I hope the rest of the season is just as compelling as this arc has been. I have my Star Trek back!!!!

  5. I don't know AE, this T'Pau :naughty: I find her a bit hard to swallow. I don't know what it is about her. I just don't find her believable, maybe it's her acting or maybe I think she's too young to pull of this role. Anyone else feel like this about T'Pau?

    285856

Well, we don't know what her life (and it's a long one) will be like and how she'll be effected by it. However, she doesnt' have the same shaped face as Celia Lovsky... a trifle, but I found it annoying. Her face it too round. She looks like Helena Bonham Carter. LOL And T'Pau had a long face.

  6. shes the one that merges spocks katra from mccoy to spock right?

    285941

No, that's T'Lar (Dame Judith Anderson). T'Pau was played by Celia Lovsky in "Amok Time".... although they do look similar. T'Pau was the High Priestess who precided over Spock's "Wedding" that wasn't. She was disdainful of humans and all off-worlders... and even Spock "It is said that thy Vulcan blood runs thin." She refused a position with the Federation and Kirk made it sound like she was basically... the President of all Vulcan, the way he described her power.

  7. That works for Soval, T'Pol, V'Las, or other High Command offiliated Vulcans, but T'Pau and T'Les seem to have a lot of emotion in their voices when they speak. Maybe even the Syrranites aren't as close to the Surak's teachings as they believe. And Surak himself in Archer's visions has seemed almost like Yoda in delivering great words of wisdom, but having a comedic edge to whatever he says.

    285056

But future generations of Vulcans will "perfect" Surak's teachings and techniques for surpression/control of their emotions. Think of this as watching toddlers walk. They can function, they're starting to learn, but sometimes fall. We still have a lifetime for a Vulcan (presumably a few generations in there) between ENT and TOS.

  8. Things like the *mind meld* being used as often as it is, detracts from how unusual it was in TOS. Why would Spock have had to explain it to Kirk if it had been known of and was so *everydayish* for that long?

Well, it's obviously distasteful to Vulcans at this time. It's taboo. It seems that it's only used in extreme situations even by the Syrrannites. I would hardly call it "everydayish."

Plus, extracting the Katra was a huge ceremonial thing  in Search for Spock; requiring Spock's return to Vulcan and the participation of the High Priestess, T'Pau , to transfer it. In Enterprise, it was attempted by someone who wasn't anything of the sort? No special ceremony? No big deal? Why the big deal of it , years later, then ? There was respect for putting humans in danger through vulcan ceremonial practices in TOS... look at Amok time...; look at *Search for Spock* where Bones chose the *danger*. These, supposedly religious , Vulcans on Enterprise would force the danger on Archer inorder to get what they wanted?? That's out of character...

But the thing is... even though they attempted extracting the Katra, they failed. So, that would explain why it becomes (or re-becomes) a giant ritual only attempted by those adpet enough, like a High Priestess. As for "the danger" these still aren't the Vulcans we know. These are the beginnings of those Vulcans. They haven't been exposed to Surak's Katra yet. Syran has had it. I believe that Surak will be a calming (less emotion and more structure/ceremony) influence on the Syrannites and eventually on all of Vulcan.

  9. T'Les told Trip that T'Pol should have all the facts.  Yet Koss most likely has no idea that his wife is suffering from Parnar Syndrome and is married to a recovering Trellium addict.  Why is it T'Pol should know the facts about Trip's being in love with her but Koss isn't given that consideration?

    276985

Because Koss isn't a series regular? LOL The story they're selling is Trip/T'Pol not T'Pol/Koss. So Koss is secondary to the Trip/T'Pol pairing. Plus, T'Les is T'Pol's mother and wants her daughter happy... and she's happy with Trip, not Koss.

  10. Hi, I submitted answers (albeit only a few) for the trivia but wasn't listed. Should I resend my submissions?

UPDATE: Well, it doesn't appear that it saved when I hit "save copy in my sent items" box... so, I'll just wait til next week.

  11. Gawd how I loved "The Forge." I gave it a 10. I always wanted more episodes done on the Vulcans (and Romulans) and this was close to perfection. The rest of my comments I'll put as spoilers just in case people haven't seen it yet.

Loved that someone remembered that Vulcans have an inner eyelid (TOS: Operation: Annihilate!). And they finally get it that Humans aren't as strong or have the stamina to keep up with Vulcans (especially ON Vulcan). Hello, desert planet... thin atmosphere. Bones was complaining about it in TOS: Amok Time saying that Kirk couldn't possibly compete with Spock in the Kalifee (sp?) part of Kun Ut Kalifee (Marriage or Challenge) that T'Pring brought up since she wanted Stonn instead of Spock (who was too much of a "legend" for her taste LOL).

Loved that they had a wild Selhat (sp?) chasing them. Those sabertooth bear creatures have been part of Vulcan lore since TOS.

Loved the whole mind-meld thing... but it made me wonder if Stovall was either a Syrranite or at least a sympathizer. He volunteered for that too easily.

Loved that they mentioned Mt. Seleya.

Loved that they made use of Surak's Katra, very well constructed and got a laugh that they stuck it in Archer for safe-keeping.

Loved the veiled references to Christianity on Earth and the oral/written traditions and first-hand vs third-hand source discussion. Very TOSy.

Loved that one of the members of the Syrranites is T'Pau... the Vulcan High Priestess who officiated at Spock's almost wedding to T'Pring! OMG, they're finally fixing all the BooBoos (or were they booboos?) from the first two seasons of ENT!

It's obvious that the Vulcans I was complaining about when this show started aren't really Vulcans! At least, not the ones I know and love. I always suspected they were actually Romulans... and I'm pretty sure that's going to be the explanation. This is pre-divide! The Syrranites will grow into the Vulcans we "know" and the current High Command will leave and form the Romulan Star Empire. They're even sneaky - purposely trying to frame the Syrranites for the Embassy explosion!

Who wrote this episode? I could kiss them for giving me my Star Trek back!!! Did I mention I can't wait for the next episode!!!?

  12. I've been watching ENT from the get go and this season is really good. It's worthy of being ST again. Plus, delving into the Vulcan backstory and finally explaining why they were so out of character is really making me psyched to watch this 3 story arc. I love the use of history too... T'Pau as a rebel leader of the followers of Surak. LOVE IT.

I hope Jolene doesn't know what she's talking about. I enjoy her as T'Pol, but don't want to see ENT end.
