To get to a 1000 posts, I have a very long way to go lol. But also you deserve to get a rest with everything that you have gone through why not? I will be getting some more rest this weekend.

Thanks for your post, Lursa! :P You may have heard or read of an incident in Minnesota, the shooting at a high school in Red Lake, which is way north of me, about 70 miles south of the Canadian border. I live in the SE corner of the state, near Rochester. My wife is from NW Minnesota, about two hours or so west of Red Lake. I've been to Mahnomen, to go to the casino there, which is on White Earth Reservation. No, I didn't win any jackpots. I usually went home $20 poorer, not including the meal or a souvenir. There are lots of Indian-run casinos throughout the state. There is one up the river from me in Red Wing, the Treasure Island Casino. I've been there, too. No, again, I did not win any jackpots. I usually played the nickel machines, limiting myself to $20. And I usually went home without it. LOL! :P

The weather here in Minnesota is great, very spring-like. I hope to make use of the day to do some "spring cleaning". As a reward, I may goof off for the evening and rent a movie. Don't know which one, tho. Of course, I want to see more of the basketball games, but may opt to listen on the radio instead. I also need to attend to the bird feeders. The mourning doves and cardinals love the safflower seed feeder, and it it is empty. There is a cardinal perched on it as I type, so I best "git 'er done"! :P

Well, I did fill the feeders. But I didn't do any spring cleaning. I guess my penchant to procrastinate got the better of me. Again. I watched some of the basketball games. I've felt down Sunday, and I don't know why. I declined two invitations for Easter dinner, one with my mom, another with daughter Rachelle. Saturday, I felt eager to go. Sunday, tho, I felt anti-social. My excuse was that I needed a haircut , and I do. I don't know. :) I'm making use of Spell Check as I seem to be misspelling more and more words. "Misspelled words" is a pet peeve, of sorts, with me. It goes hand-in-hand with my perfectionistic tendencies. Now, to go to sleep. I don't look forward to work tomorrow. Shall I play "hooky" and not go? :)

Luke and I watched "The Phantom Menance" for the umpteenth time. :) I really like it. I find myself repeating some of the lines, especially those with Jar Jar Binks. :) One of my favs is one with Qui Gon Jin:

QGJ: " ... you almost got us killed! Are you brainless?"

JJB: " I spe'k"

QGJ: " The ability to speak does not make you intelligent. Now get out of here!"

Or something like that. LOL!

Movie night again Wednesday. Watched "Remember the Titans". One of my all-time fav movies. Tonight, its CSI and Without a Trace. Two excellent crime dramas, IMO. I also saw "Survivor: Palau". One tribe is doing very badly. They lost the immunity challenge again, and so had to vote off another one , the name is:

Click For Spoiler
Ibrahim
. Now, with only two, what will they do? Merge??

I see that I'm almost to 1000 posts! w00t, w00t! :P

Already Tuesday! The weather has been gorgeous - mid-70's. I was able to do some lawn work over the weekend, raking up leaves. I was surprised at how much I had to do. Anyway, now I need to put down some "weed and feed" fertilizer. I had hoped to do that tonight, and go get some before the store closed, but my son, Luke, left the house. He isn't where he said he'd be. :P So, I'll need to have a "little" talk with him. :busted: It is supposed to rain tonight. I'll just have to fertilize this weekend. I'm trying to break my habit of procrastinating. With God's help, and my wife's encouragement, I will get over this bad habit. I got to "police" the parking lot today ~~ pick up litter ~~ so that gave me more time outside, and a break from the usual warehouse routine. B)

I had a pretty good weekend. I began the arduous process of cleaning up the garage. I put the snowblower away, then dragged out the bikes ( the tires were flat , lol). I had Luke pump up the tires, then we went on a short bike ride. There is an elk ranch nearby, so we "trekked" over there. :dude: Perhaps we'll try a longer trip next time. I live close to the country, so there are plenty of open roads to explore. There is a lookout that has a great view of the valley that we could go see, too. Work went ok. The boss was gone, so that makes for a lot less stress, believe me  Watched the episode "Twilight" on ENT. I guess its the most popular one. I liked it, tho not a fav.

Another weekend is here. Yesterday, it was deliciously warm. Today has become annoyingly cold. And drizzling to boot. ;) I would go shopping :: yes, Virginia, men do like to shop from time to time; lol :: but, with bills paid, there isn't much left. To quote my wife. " not even 50 cents to buy a candy bar." Now thats really bad. I did watch some baseball, and the Twins won again! :) Time to leave. I need to pick up Luke from a sleep over. Here it is 4:00 in the afternoon! LOL!

As you may have noticed, I've not been posting here as often as before. i've been doing some on-line gaming at yahoo. I've needed to do something "mindless" as there has been a lot of stress at work. And i really haven't felt like posting. I guess that I've had a "blue" period lately. Maybe I'll be more into posting down the road. There has been some concern about my son Seth going to Iraq. It may be a while before we know anything for sure. I hate being in limbo. It must be even worse for my son. We'll all deal with it when the time comes, i guess.

well, its official: my son is going to Iraq. He leaves June 6th for training in new Jersey, then overseas for one year. i of course have mixed feelings. proud that he is serving his country, but concerned about doing so in a war zone. this one is unlike anyother, where the local populace blow themselves up, all in the name of god. certainly not the God that i know. my son may be driving in the convoys, so that would put him at greater risk. if the past is any guide. i would appreciate your prayers and support. thank you. and i do hope to be contributing more to this web site down the road. its been tough, as of late, with this news plus the end of Star Trek: Enterprise. :tear:

An update on my son's deployment: his departure date is unknown, so he will be in limbo until the 30-day notice, or something like that. He recently got his license to drive a hummer, and he was so-so about it. No big deal to him.

I am getting ready to go see Eps III of SW, going to the late show. My 12-yr old thinks the late shows are the best - LOL! Maybe because he can stay up late? :look:

I have been hoping to do some chores around the house, but haven't been too motivated. The weather has been unseasonably cool, so i guess i can blame the weather - :look:

I went up north with the family to fish for a few days. Enroute, my son called us to let us know that his deployment is set for the 16th of June. He will be attached to another Guard unit, and attend training in Mississippi for two months. I intend to fly down with my wife and youngest son, Luke to meet him for a brief visit. Then he'll be shipped out to Iraq for at least a year. This has been a tough time for all of us, obviously. The delays and such gave us false hope that he might be spared. I don't think it will sink in until i see him board the bus or plane. I appreciate your prayers and support. I hope to spend as much time with him as i can this week, even to go fishing at the lake. Until later, Jaz :(

Not too much in news. My son leaves this week for training in Mississippi, before his deployment to Iraq. He and Luke have spent a lot of time fishing together. i've been out of sorts. A lot of stressors, i guess. Being up this late.........or early, lol........isn't good for me, either. :yahoo:

So far, my son's ok with the training in MS. No news is good news.........lol! Not too much here to say, other that Luke is playing baseball. He pitched in relief Tuesday. Walked one, then struck out the second one. Woo hoo! The #6 team of Mark Martin continues to do well. :) The Twins baseball team is not.......... :( I'm deeply sorry to hear that we lost a U-2 pilot today in UAE.

:) :(

Been awhile since i posted here......*blows dust off of monitor...... :( I have been around, but wanted to take a break from posting at STF. I think that the discussions about "Enterprise", both good and bad, affected me. I have been a fan of ST for many years, since TOS first aired........30-some yrs ago. The negative comments about "Enterprise", tho maybe well meaning, were depressing for me to read. But thats just me. Anyway, I am ready to post again, and will try not to be a stranger.

Since the early part of August, I have been off work due to a back injury - herniated disc. It wasn't something that just happened, but may be a result of my work. . : I have had epidural cortisone injections - three so far - as well as pain medication. Monday is another doctor's visit. It seems as if I may need yet another injection, which are placed into the back near the spine, using a fluoroscope - a sort of low-level X-ray.

I have had ample time to catch up on ST shows. More so, I have learned to enjoy the DS9 episodes. Its no surprise, then, that the theme music of the show is occasionally in my dreams or thoughts at odd times in the day. :lol

There is also a new dog in the house, Zoey, a golden retriever, 4 mo old. Jazmine, my dog of 8yrs, was put down due to a large tumor on her throat. It looked inoperable, and was growing rapidly. I now have her ashes in a tin on my dresser. I haven't decided where to bury her, but i already have a stone marker, made by my son Luke.

Of course, my other son is still in Iraq. I get frequent e-mails from him. My wife sent him a "care package" with some magazines, food items, and a computer game. He now wants the upgrade for the game  He was always good at games.

That's all for now. Thanks for listening and for your prayers.

 My son Seth will be returning home in a few weeks, so, needless to say, we are excited!

He married his long-time girl friend during a leave in April. So, of course, he will have a lot of getting reaquainted to do.......... Eventually, he hopes to go on to Ranger School. Until then, im not sure what he plans to do...he may not know himself. Thank-you for your prayers.

Yes .......... i am still alive ............

Obviously, my interest in this web site as been lacking ........ as has my interest in all things Star Trek.

I have recently watched a few episodes of the TOS with newly enhanced images of the Enterprise and some other things via digital wizardry or something . I like the new look.

I still haven't bought any copies of the TOS series. I guess its just not worth the money for me right now, even with the price cut.

It looks as if the STF place is still going strong. Keep up the good work.

Dennis

From a relative newbie here, I want to welcome you back. I too, am a long-time Trek Fan, and I know what you're saying. It's tough to get excited about Trek these days, but with the new movie coming out in 2008, we do have something to look forward to. Please don't be a stranger. I hope that you stop by more often and contribute to the board.

Thanks for the support, I do hope to drop in more often ....... and, no, Kor, it shouldn't be another year. :)

Yes, the new movie, STXI does look pretty good, and I wouldn't expect the original cast to be in it unless as a cameo, or as Stan Lee, an ordinary folk who just happened upon the scene.

Perhaps I need to bone up on my ST trivia. :)

If you have been following the news, then you know about the terrible flooding in s.e. Minnesota. Esp., the counties of Houston, Winona, and Filmore. I live in Winona county, and there have been several towns severely flooded. One, Goodview, is where i work, and many of my co-workers suffered badly, as in lost homes. If u go to the link WCCO.com/photos u will see images of the distruction. I'm still in shock.

Fortunately, my family wasn't affected, as we live on the bluffs overlooking Winona and Goodview. However, there were several neighbors with water in the basements. My son helped by providing one with a dehumidifier and an industrial fan. He also brought over a shop vac to suck up the water, and helped cut up the carpet to haul outside ........ the carpet when wet is far too heavy to drag up the steps of the basement.

There have been 7 deaths so far. The cleanup and rebuilding will take months. Some communites such as Rushford in Houston county are still closed to the public and most residents.

Sadly, this disaster was preceded by the collapse of the I-35W bridge in St. Paul. It certainly is a crazy time in part of the country. However, there have been numerous accounts of ordinary folks being heros, unselfishly putting themselves in harms way to help someone that they may not even know.

And this flooding is striking areas to the east, in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Ohio.

:roflmao:
