Vic 17 Posted November 14, 2007 Actor of Mexican descent will play character known as Ayel alongside Eric Bana's Nero. Plus: Confirmation of Hemsworth casting. By Christian November 14, 2007 - 11:53 AM 37-year old actor Clifton Collins Jr. has joined the cast of J.J. Abrams' new Star Trek film. According to a report in Variety, Collins will be playing a character known as Ayel, who is the cohort and general to Nero. Nero is the film's main bad guy, played by Eric Bana, widely rumored to be a Romulan character. Collins' biggest role to date may have been in the 2005 film Capote, in which he portrayed a mass murderer. Also appearing in that film was Bruce Greenwood, who will be playing Pike in the new Trek film. Collins has also made appearances in films such as One Eight Seven, Traffic, and Dirty. On television, he had a starring role in the cable series Thief, and had recurring roles on The Shield and Alias -- which may have been how J.J. Abrams first got to know about the actor. Along with reporting on the casting of Collins, Variety also confirmed the recent rumors suggesting Chris Hensworth will be joining the film as Captain Kirk's father, George Kirk.
