Man Jailed For 2 Months After Deodorant Mistaken For Cocaine »

A Minnesota man who spent two months in jail after being found with white powder has been cleared after tests showed the powder was deodorant, not cocaine.

Cornelius F. Salonis, 31, was arrested Aug. 3 on suspicion of drunken driving and jailed after police said they found cocaine in his car. Salonis's attorney blames a faulty field test for the false positive result. Prosecutors dismissed the felony drug charges Wednesday and allowed Salonis to plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge of drunken driving--and the defendant was freed.

It took the Police 2 months to figure out it was deodorant and not cocaine?..... :sniffle:

There is a lawsuite despite that he was drunk. Being held in jail on false grounds should have a lawsuite.

No, they found powder in the deodorant that at first tested out as cocaine.

This is hardly a wash. A misdemeanor DUI charge gets you two days in jail max, and those are the very rare cases where the defendant doesn't qualify for some kind of work release program.

This guy spent 2 months in jail for charges that were eventually dismissed. You can't say things evened out.
