Kor37 9 Posted March 18, 2008 Bear Convicted In Court For Stealing Honey Mar 14th 2008 By Michael Rundle Weird Happy Hour Hero (Our happy-hour fact to amaze your drinking buddies with.) A bear has been convicted by a court in Macedonia for stealing honey from a beekeeper. The year-long case was brought when a local beekeeper reported seeing the animal regularly attacking his hives. Despite the man's efforts to distract the bear with music and lights, it continued returning for the gooey substance. That's when the man sued for damages, and the case was brought to court. However, because the bear has no owner and is a protected species, the court ordered the state to pay the $3,450 fine instead. So far the bear has not been identified. But Winnie the Pooh has yet to provide an alibi. This is insane!

trekz 7 Posted March 18, 2008 Actually if Jellystone Park is indeed Yellowstone Park, Yogi might be crossing state lines from Wyoming into either Montana or Idaho, so he could be elligible for a federal slammer. This court decision however sets a bad precedent. With the state paying for damages this bear can just keep on stealing honey. And if the bear tells two friends and they each tell two friends, well, hijinks could certainly ensue and the entire national treasury could be paying for bears to steal honey ... Sweet! Wishfire 2 Posted March 18, 2008 Somehow, I seriously doubt that precedents in Macedonia will have an affect on the United States...
