Animated `Star Wars' Movie Opens Aug. 15

NEW YORK (AP) - "Star Wars: The Clone Wars," an animated film, will open Aug. 15 in theaters throughout North America, followed by the debut of a television series this fall.

 

Lucasfilm Ltd., Warner Bros. Pictures and Turner Broadcasting System Inc. made the announcement Tuesday.

 

A television series of the same name will debut on Cartoon Network in the fall and later air on TNT.

Yes and no. They had two "seasons" of Clone Wars cartoons, but not full-length half hour (with commercials) or movie-length cartoons.

Yeah, but if you put them both together, it's almost a 2-hour movie.

After he's done with his project and the live action show, Lucas should make either Episodes VII, VIII and IX as feature length movies, or a post ROTJ TV series, based around Luke, Leia, Han and co. creating a new Galactic Republic and Jedi order.

He may not finish the original 9 (some sources say 12) live-action movies he originally said he would, but you know he will continue to produce Star Wars stuff as long as we are willing to buy it.

I'm just as big of a Star Wars fanatic as Star Trek, so you know I'm seriously geeking out over this news.

Oh please no. CGI is fine for adding space ships and space battles into movies, but nothing replaces live action.

 

I mean, the occasional CGI alien to liven things up is okay, but not all CGI.
