A Decade of Scifi: Favorite Recent Scifi Series (1996 to Now)

All of these series began in '96 or after, what is your favorite scifi TV series from the past decade besides Star Trek? Forgive me if I didn't list your favorite series from '96 to now, I tried to remember as many as I could :(

 

Once again, this poll is about Scifi series that have been made from '96 to now. That's why TV shows like the X-Files and other series that were still running in '96 aren't included, I didn't forget some. I just want to see what your favorite scifi shows that started in the past decade are. Just wanna clear things up :(

 

Since I'm in the mood, as you can tell from another post lol :angry: I'd say right now it would be Firefly. My second choice would be Futurama

Battlestar Galatica. I just flicked on the TV and became intreged by one episode- it was half way through. I didn't know what it was until the break. I've only started watching it the past month. I would rate it 4/5, but it wont replace my wonderful Trek

I must add the new Dr. Who, as new favorite (in addition to and just behind Stargate SG1, Stargate Atlantis, and Third Rock, as I posted above). I really enjoy it and it's a great addition to the venerable and always fun Dr. Who series!

Hey, where's Tremors - the series?

 

Okay #1 I'd have to go with SGA,

#2 SG1 although in earlier seasons it might have been #1

#3 The Invisisble Man - not on the list but I really liked that show

#4 The Outer Limits

 

And honestly I watched The Chronicle and Tremors - they weren't meant to be taken seriously so they were kind of fun. I think it was the Chronicle that featured an ep with a Dr. named Harcourt F. Mudd.

 

I just can't think of sitcoms as scifi - even if the characters are aliens.

I voted for Firefly. I'm surprised it doesn't have more votes! Joss Whedon did an incredible job with that show. The cast was amazing, the individual and overall plots were quite good, the writing was witty... And the whole "space Western" concept? I love it. This is probably my favourite show after Star Trek. Brilliantly conceived and with some of the best lines ever. Yes, I am a devout Firefly fan, and I am desperately sad that it was cancelled so ruthlessly.

Oh, I can't believe you made me choose between Firefly and Farscape. I voted Farscape, but now that I've stopped to think about it, I should have said Firefly. Ah, live and learn. But what a show! I too am of the league that mourns its premature demise...although I just watched it a few months ago, thanks to Netflix and a very persistent friend.

SG-1. Many of my favorite episode of it I like as well as my favorite Trek episodes.

Stargate SG-1, I love they take modern life, add aliens to explain mythology and imply a greater purpose by saying the Alterans were our creators, and these were essentially the greatest race to exist.
