HRH The KING 0 Posted May 29, 2005 (edited) Brilliant episode. Deserved all the praise it got. Everybody involved excelled in this episode. Superb. "Gold Standard Episode". I give this episode a rating of 5 Edited May 30, 2005 by The King
VaBeachGuy 12 Posted May 29, 2005 This was a very well written (award winning) episode. It was basically our first real introduction to what the Holodecks could do and the role that they would play in TNG. This is the first episode to ask the question about whether or not holodeck characters might be more then simple illusions. Is it possible for them to have independent thought? TNG would toy with this question in a few episodes and it was also brought up in some of the other series, notably in Voyager with the Doctor and to a degree in DS9 with Vic Fontain. In true franchise fashion we would see Lawrence Tierney (Cyrus Redblock) again on DS9 in "Business as Usual". I give this episode a 5, I highly recommend this episode. LordOfTheBorg 1 Posted May 29, 2005 It was a really great episode. I have to admit, i would have gaven it a 5 but i'm not overtly interested in the 1940's. Of course, it was a great episode and, like VBG said, it really was the a first with holodecks.
Takara_Soong 4 Posted June 6, 2005 I loved this episode. Seeing the holodecks in action as well as Dixon Hill and his South American friend looking quite good in period costume. An early taste of the greatness yet to come. I would give this episode a 5 if it didn't have another "Wes saves the day" ending. Why Wes was the only one who could fix the holodeck is beyond me. KIMIMELA 1 Posted June 6, 2005 I loved it. Although they were the bad guys, I kind of felt sorry for them at the end. I have this on video, I watch the 1st series a lot.
Stephen of Borg 2 Posted February 1, 2006 (edited) This episode was great. Data really did steal the scenes with his 1930's New York talk. Data's final monologue at the end made me ***** out of ***** Edited February 1, 2006 by Gamera
youbroughtheryouRiker 2 Posted November 20, 2007 5 as well. Good acting, good writing. Wes saving the day isn't an annoyance this time, given that his mother's life was at stake in this one. Whalen and Data were great in this one too.
athena28 2 Posted November 20, 2007 I thought it was ok. Not a 5, tho. To read Wil Wheaton's thoughts, go to: Star Trek: The Next Generation: The Big Goodbye
DaboGirl 7 Posted July 18, 2008 A FIVE! I loved when Cyrus Redblock and his henchman try to leave the Holodeck at end. A season one classic. Great Stuff!
