HRH The KING 0 Posted May 29, 2005 (edited) An OK episode. The first appearance of the Ferengi who were supposed to be the new "enemy" for TNG, to replace the Klingons. However the were so funny and comical, the audiences didn't take them seriously, so they were cast as simply greedy and capitalistic, which suited me because they would later become one of my favourite alien races in Star Trek, but that didn't happen until DS9. I give this episode a rating of 1 Edited May 29, 2005 by The King
Takara_Soong 4 Posted June 6, 2005 Our introduction to the Ferengi but, then, you shouldn’t judge a species based on first impressions. An average episode which begins with an interesting stalemate when both the crews of the Enterprise and the Ferengi ship believe the other is responsible for the loss of energy each ship was experiencing. My personal favourite scene from this episode involves Data’s encounter with the Chinese finger puzzle in the observation lounge. Just one of the little touches that I grew to love about this series. Riker asking for permission to give the Ferengi a box of the puzzles at the end was a nice touch as well.
Stephen of Borg 2 Posted January 24, 2006 A better than average episode. The storyline doesn't really pick up until they land on the planet. The Ferengi are always amusing. **** out of *****
youbroughtheryouRiker 2 Posted November 16, 2007 3. An intro to the Ferengi they may not have intended to make. They made them so childish that it was unbelievable. Not a great story at all, but a good acting performance from our players.
DaboGirl 7 Posted July 17, 2008 I give it 4. Maybe the Ferengi weren't the big time villians they intended, but a pretty enjoyable episode at any rate.
